The Mac and old Apple is dead. Time to accept it.

You will either pay exorbitant prices for Macbooks/iMacs/etc, and maybe every few years Tim Crook will 'bless' you will a lower powered, higher priced device, but it's time to face the facts:

The old Apple is dead.

Tim Crook and co. is coasting to retirement, and have put all their eggs in one basket (iPhone). If it ever falls Apple falls too, but the simple is, they no longer care about the old pc line.

Apple is never going to push the boundaries or come up with new groundbreaking products as long as Tim Crook is leading it. They will simply push the iPhone and raise prices.

Profiteering means make or seek to make an excessive or unfair profit, sometimes illegally.

They are clearly prioritising making as much profit out of the customer as possible at the expense of user experience and innovation.

I don't follow your comment at all. Today Apple introduced the iPhone 7 for the same price as the iPhone 6S with a better camera, twice the storage, water resistance... etc etc... So we got more features for the same money.

If you are referring to Mac updates, I think anybody that has been paying attention to Intel's chip release schedules knew we would not see new Macs today. Probably later this year.

I sympathize with most of what you're saying. But I feel that a phone/music/computer company making a car is pushing the boundaries a bit, and certainly going beyond simply pushing the iPhone.

Granted, we haven't seen the result yet so perhaps I am speaking prematurely.

They bumped all base storage in iOS devices; even older ones. The A-series CPU benchmarks even make mincemeat of dual-core mobile i7s. I can't begin to describe what an achievement that is.

The iPhone 7 hasn't even been released, yet you talk about 'quality control' whilst Samsung release exploding phones.

Apple has to adapt to changing times or whither and die, so while the old "Apple Computer" company is no longer, they have adjusted to changing times.

People wish the old apple was still around, but yet conveniently forget the old apple was on a PPC platform, barely selling computers and was close to bankruptcy many times. Remember the Michael Dell quote

When asked what he'd do with Apple if he were in Jobs' shoes, Dell said:

What would I do? I'd shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders.

Steve Jobs just returned to Apple in 1997, and Apple was extremely close to bankruptcy.

I will admit that I think Apple has made a number of tactical mistakes with the Mac platform, i.e., not getting on skylake sooner, but strategically their approach is sound - at least from my uneducated opinion.

No, it wasnt common knowledge, it was rumors. As you know Apple do not announce what they will show before the keynote. They send a cryptic poster everyone are debating what it could mean this time. As I can remember, Apple did always mix computer and other stuff in their keynotes, but only after Tim took over there have been a separation of these things. Now there are no macs at all, and the keynotes are dead boring

It is possible the Mac will make a comeback in another decade when the iPhone has a Mac built-in. You just plug it into your dock at home and access your iPhone's 12 cores and run your Mac applications on your 8K display and wireless keyboard and mouse.

There use to be hardware refresh almost every 6 months. I'm personally running on a 3 year old MBP.

No, Apple is neglecting their computer lines. The casual user who likes ultra slim is the people getting the new machines once a year.

In technology if you do not stay current you're done. You can float on a cash cow for a while but Apple needs to step up the pace.

Yep I certainly do see Apple as an entirely different company than days of yore when the core of Apple was quite innovative and unafraid. Today we have such a huge company with huge financials and international markets it certainly could never be the company it was. Let's not forget that the markets are highly competitive and also international.

I'll just say that like all huge companies, they do from time to time miss the boat (much like MS did with the Internet and IBM with improperly positioning OS/2). Apple is no different and we all have seen them miss the boat on gaming computers, a more intelligent media player instead of just ATV and then we see Apple's major 'hard on' for thin/slim which is in one way an homage to the form over function mindset of Apple at different eras.

Yes I am finally accepting that Apple is not innovative and that Apple is not as interested in their computer division and certainly not that interested in professional client market as they once were. What we have is a huge company trying to sell to the masses and that's all. I'll give Windows a spin again (as I only have Win7 these days in virtual) and see if Win10 is easy enough to strip down and have a flexible environment free of hardware limitations like Apple has placed on OSX.

Apple has to answer to the shareholders which most corporations have to. I know it's a four letter word for most people, but it all boils down to "capitalism" in the end. If Apple is making googles (pun intended) of money on product A than product B then Apple is going to spend more of its earnings on research and development on product A. In my opinion Apple really never has been an "innovative" company, but rather a company that makes products that are easy to use for the general public and has nice eye candy to go along with it.

I switched over to Apple computers and phones not for the innovation, but rather for the simplicity of the products. After 30+ years of being a PC person I was getting tired of Blue Screen of Death, finding and searching for the all the latests drivers and making sure every device was compatible with each other in order to simply turn on an operational computer. I also started off using Android phones and found that a lot of times it didn't play nice with the PC computer or you had to do a function in an obscure manner on the PC or use/install the Phone's own application on the computer creating more bloatware. Just my .02 cents on the matter.
