Yep I certainly do see Apple as an entirely different company than days of yore when the core of Apple was quite innovative and unafraid. Today we have such a huge company with huge financials and international markets it certainly could never be the company it was. Let's not forget that the markets are highly competitive and also international.

I'll just say that like all huge companies, they do from time to time miss the boat (much like MS did with the Internet and IBM with improperly positioning OS/2). Apple is no different and we all have seen them miss the boat on gaming computers, a more intelligent media player instead of just ATV and then we see Apple's major 'hard on' for thin/slim which is in one way an homage to the form over function mindset of Apple at different eras.

Yes I am finally accepting that Apple is not innovative and that Apple is not as interested in their computer division and certainly not that interested in professional client market as they once were. What we have is a huge company trying to sell to the masses and that's all. I'll give Windows a spin again (as I only have Win7 these days in virtual) and see if Win10 is easy enough to strip down and have a flexible environment free of hardware limitations like Apple has placed on OSX.

I use Windows for gaming. 10 is the best experience since xp however it's still windows with the same issues. Malware/virus/mad browser pop ups.

I'm keeping my old iMac. (Wish they get a real upgrade some year ...)

I am trying to work out what 'innovation' means, and what is Apples competitors doing that is so much better - here is a clue, not that much.
The macbook was very innovative and a very nice design.
I use my Apple watch everyday, and I love some of the features on it that you wouldn't appreciate if you didn't have one.
Yes the mbp is getting stale but will have a big upgrade shortly.
Imac - not much to do there except update a little
mac pro - obviously discontinued or will get a massive update -I expect the former, but would prefer to see the latter with a 5k monitor.
mac mini - same as pro....
mba - probably discontinued as the mb takes over.
iPhone7 - looks pretty solid from where I sit.
iPad pros - great tablets - was just admiring how thin mine is on the weekend. Amazing tech, and love the pencil.

So overall not entirely sure why Apple is not innovative in comparison to all these other amazing tech companies that are so much further ahead. I have seen and used very little that will persuade me otherwise, but am happy to be convinced to change my mind.

And as said earlier, Intel release schedule is all tied to the above [in most cases]

I don't follow your comment at all. Today Apple introduced the iPhone 7 for the same price as the iPhone 6S with a better camera, twice the storage, water resistance... etc etc... So we got more features for the same money.

If you are referring to Mac updates, I think anybody that has been paying attention to Intel's chip release schedules knew we would not see new Macs today. Probably later this year.

IMHO I think what people are basing the negativity on Apples lack of new computers is based on what there seeing on the PC side of the house.

If HP and M$ can do it, then why can't :apple: do the same thing. Also I'll add is why do you need a Mac ? because it's fashionable, trendy? If what your using the Mac for does the same thing that you purchased it for back when you bought why do you need to have something lighter and thinner and speedier?

Like my iPhone 6 plus works fine can watch netflix all day long on a single charge, why upgrade if it aint broke why replace it?

Can't please all the people all the time. Cook and the others are "BANKING" on iPhone and iPad. Yes Intel is behind or lacking in the output of chips for what ever reason. But between there new spaceship and the i-devices I personally feel the lack of communication on new Mac's is piss poor on there part.

So what are these people going to say in October when Apple revamps almost the entire Mac line?

Yes it should have been done sooner, but how will the Mac be dead when the entire lineup is new?

...a valid excuse at least up until ~WWDC, since when it has been wearing thin. Dell now have an XPS13 with the "rMBP 13"-class Skylake CPU, and the "rMBP 15" chipset has cropped up in the Intel Skull Canyon NUC. Maybe they're waiting for new AMD GPUs, but that only affects the top-end rMBP 15. In any case, if new rMBPs weren't going to show up until late 2016, they could have bumped the RAM or SSD, or cut the prices of the existing rMBPs back in the Spring.

Or, Cook could have stood up at WWDC and said "The next step for Mac will be Kaby Lake, TB3/USB-C throughout and AMD Polaris at the high end - that's not quite ready yet but in the meantime here's why the current models are still better than the Dell XPS and why we're not producing Skylake machines for the sake of it".

If there's a problem with the Intel release schedule, it's Apple's job to work around it. Their designs have got too tightly tied to particular Intel chips.

So every year a new phone. So how many design options do you have to make a flat rectangular object? (and not get so crazy with the design that the majority won't buy it) Seriously?
people want something new always. Never satisfied.

Few gimmicks here and there on the out side to make yourself look different, but still a gimmick. No matter the body the software is the same.

I've owned the note 7, recalled (exploding phone and all that, that wasn't the best feature....) . I have an edge 7, curves look great but side touch issues everything now and then. That wasn't the answer. What should apple do?

Apple stuff, It works. It works well. Better than most. That should count for something? You can pretty the outside up all you like but it's what's inside that counts.

Yeah I miss the "old apple" when we were still on inferior Motorola chips and had to sit through yet another Photoshop bakeoff with Uncle Phil. "Apple is dead/Mac is dead" has been a mantra since the late 1990's, but the sucker just refuses to die, lol.

I don't think any CEO that wants to keep his job would ever do anything like that, since it would pretty much kill sales of the existing product. It would be like the CEO of Ford announcing publicly they are coming out with an updated Mustang with more power for less money in three months. Mustang sales would crater.

These CEOs are there to make a profit for the shareholders.

LOL. Every Apple announce my is met with the same complaints of not being enough. Timmy could get on stage and announce an iPhone 8 that has an infinite battery life, 10k video and 1GP still camera whose alarm will give you a hummer every morning instead of that annoying beep beep and people would bitch about it not being available in teal.

IMO I think Apple is making a transition away from clunky computers towards smaller more portable devices. The future of computing IMO may not be the desktop device sitting in your home or a laptop in your bag. What if you could have the computing power and memory of a laptop in the palm of your hand. All you need is a dock at your office or home and you have a full fledged computer. Want it run out and get some coffee; snag the device and you're taking your work on the road.

That's the reason i always use too..
People need to think what is good for THEM and not what a company tells u is good. Apple may be a bit hard on users the most about getting the latest gear, but that should never over-see want you want.

I'm still on yosemite and all that's in my signature is what i still use today... with no reason to upgrade.... If, and when, my products do die,, then i'll think about it Apple or not. Apple does not make my decision.
