Things got a bit testy between Dan and Hartley near the end when discussing why would or should someone get the Ultra 2. The siren topic became contentious. More of this may increase viewership.

Quite honestly I don't notice a lot of difference from my 5 either. I upgraded mainly because the battery needed replacement anyway, and I wanted to switch to SS.
With fast charging everyday the battery is going to be below 80% in just over 2 years imo

I can't believe Dan never uses the flashlight on the Ultra 🤭 It is very handy. I have the flashlight set to the action button. You can swipe the screen to get white light, strobe light, and red light.

You guys are giving terrible advice on who should upgrade to which Watch. The health tracking features are great for everyone. Get the best Watch you can get. Get the Ultra if you can.

Hartley is wrong about Ultra bezels. The bezel is thicker to provide protection.

I haven't actually seen or felt the FineWoven stuff. It looks good in pictures.

I’m tired of the stainless steel watch sticking to my skin so hard when I’ve been working up even a tiny sweat. I got stainless to go with some leather bands. lol oops. Most of the leather bands I wanted back when they were available fit only the 41 mm watch. I love the look of the stainless steel watch but in everyday wear I might reconsider my choice.

If I were to get a series 9 it would be to go back to a lighter watch. So definitely not getting the Ultra.

What do you do with your 6 that you need to charge it twice? Mine is at 78% battery and it lasts a day with room to spare..that's with an hour of yoga and 3-13mi GPS run at least 5x/week. I don't stream music with it.

I don't wear mine at night as I don't care about sleep tracking; is that it?
The real question is what magic is your 78% pulling.
Mines on 74% and after a 40-50 minute run it is nearly dead.
I track my sleep (6-7 hours) and it drops 20%.

I absolutely charge it twice a day as after my sleep and an hour of exercise (not running) it’s dead.
If I plan to go on a run I gotta top the thing up before hand.

Random comment: I'm an occasional listener of the podcast and in my mind assumed Hartley was a middle aged Brit with more generous proportions... clearly I was WAY off the mark and laughed at myself when first playing this video.

The brighter screen on the 9 is very noticeable outdoors in bright sunlight compared to previous models (but not noticeable at all in normal lighting) but I don’t know if that’s enough to upgrade from an 8 or 7.

Both were doing a good job on this show. Dan who is always diplomatic and Hartley who likes to speak his mind. There are always balance between the two. On this show, they accomplished the following per my perspective:
- Marketing the natural titanium color as a popular color, which is according to all Apple advertisement on all media - good job for both
- Marketing Apple Watch version 2 and SE - good job for Dan
- Marketing Apple Care - good job for Dan
- Marketing Fine Woven case and wallet - good job for Dan, which is balanced by Hartley dislikeness of the case.

Flashlight on Apple Watch Ultra action button has been very helpful on many cases in my life, which now its usefulness has been extended to iPhone 15 Pro Max action button. Hartley’s flashlight point on Apple Watch Ultra was spot on.

I’m sitting with a 4 and thinking I’d better just wait for the 10/X. I want all of the features of the models above, but think I can wait until this battery life is less than 80% capacity. (I’m at 93% currently.)

I definitely appreciate your comment.
How did you manage that? My 4 (wasn't even launch day, it was late in the cycle) was at 55% before I updated to the 9. I think I was at 80% within 2 years of ownership, but Apple still wanted to charge me to swap it, which I never did.

Having said that, very happy with the update. Going from 6 hours battery life on low power mode to several days without low power mode is nice. Its also overall a much smoother and nicer experience. I like the always on display.

I did swap the battery once through apple. I may do it again unless the X is something amazing.

How is your screen holding up? Mine has heavy staining from minerals in the water that wont come off. I would consider swapping the battery and giving the watch to my kids, but for the screen.
