I agree with the OP. I will never give out my me.com email address - it sounds too, well, wet... It certainly doesn't sound professional and it has the air of a 'novice' computer user. Why, I don't know, but that's how I perceive it.

If you are talking "professional" I think you can say the same about ALL free personal type email accounts. Like hotmail, yahoo, google, aol etc.

I think you need to have an emal for your company domain if you want to look "professional".

I can't decide whether this thread is hilarious or deeply disturbing.

I'm with you. I read this and thought WTF. Seriously? It is just an e-mail address and the thing that makes @me.com the best e-mail address is the fact that it is short. So you think @mac.com is better?

To me, me.com seems more personal. As if it was a private e-mail account rather than a business e-mail account. And @mac? Well that just seems like you are trying to show off. Not everyone would associate @me.com with apple but @mac they would. It would put out a message that yes, you, of all people, have a mac. An expensive piece of equipment.

In the end it is just an e-mail address. Be thankful that it even exists. I don't see a hotmail account being able to doe everything mobileme does.

I have a googlemail account because i am from the UK. googlemail is just too long. GMail would be so much better as it is shorter. Me.com would be perfect.

What I am saying is that limiting the domain name options to "me.com" alone is not smart business for Apple... If me.com works for someone, great, they should use it and be happy with it. That doesn't mean that others who don't like it have a self-esteem problem or too much time on their hands.

My point is they are losing my $$ every year because I will just stick with gmail or live.

This is the strangest thread I've ever encountered.

Are you new to the United States?

Nope, born and raised here, with a healthy appetite for rhetorical questions:)

I still think anyone that is embarassed by their email providers name is way too vain.

Oh, it isn't that I disagree with you....I guess I am just surprised if someone doesn't see how odd our country can react in big numbers. Over-exaggerations, ridiculous conclusions, etc....just seems to be common and immune to me.

Oh im aware of the idiocy of the masses, I just have a quirky way of pointing it out. I hate this image driven society.

The concept is really simple, it's your part of cyberspace, so it's like saying my home, i.e. me, I don't see the problem in it
