1) Wi-Fi DNS Settings: When you go to delete the current "8.8.8.8" that's already there, when you delete all the characters, Android actually reinserts "8.8.8.8". Ugh. Earth to Android! There's a reason I'm deleting them! Some of us actually use different DNS settings.

2) Animation Shutters with ultra-high specs: Even with the fancy quad-core processors and 2GB+ RAM modules, animations STILL shutter, when iOS devices have smooth animations with lower specs.

3) The fake "(#) Viruses Detected on your <device>. Tap 'OK' to download virus removal app from Google Play." I still can't believe Google hasn't cracked down on these obviously fake data stealing apps. I may bash iOS for it's super strict App Store requirements, but I now understand why they're in place. I'm getting fed up of normal websites "telling" me I have viruses on my phone. (See attached screenshot)

Sigh....so many threads like these already that just turn into huge bickering arguments. My suggestion is for the Mods to close this thread before is gets ugly.

1) User error.

2) Turn off animations, change your launcher's animation settings, or enable ART.

3) That's a pop-up on whatever website you're visiting, which is not something Google can control. I would suggest contacting the website's admin(s) to have them take the necessary actions to fix it. You can also use a different browser and change the user agent string to make it appear that you're not using a mobile device.

If you want animation runs smoothly, go to 'Developer options' and change them to 2x or more (there are 3 options for animation). By default, they are 0.5x make it choppy.

This thread is about annoying things on Android. I'd imagine the website wouldn't popup something for an iOS device. If that is the case, then it is specific to Android and would still fit well under this threads title as an annoying thing with Android.

by default they will be 1x

Changing to 2x will make transitions and animations longer, but not necessarily smoother.

As for OP's third point, i have never seen that message about viruses whilst using an android device over the last couple of years..

And I don't disagree with that; I merely suggested a solution to the problem.

The Copy n Paste icons still confuse me sometimes. Only the "cut" icon is unmistakable. They should just replace the Copy n Paste icons with words.

This has always bugged me too. Is it to hard to just have text under the image for cut, copy and paste?

This is the way Android has become ever since Ice Cream Sandwich, but I don't get what the problem is... the Copy & Paste icons are the same universally, including but not limited to Microsoft Word and I am sure other popular software on Windows.

P.S. You could hold the copy or paste icon (or just about any other icon) and it gives a popup with text saying what the function of that icon is.

Replacing just 2 out of 4 buttons with text will cause design inconsistency.

Things like this happen on iOS too. Sometimes websites automatically redirect me to the App Store without my having to even click on anything.

That's a website popup. Google can't do much about that. I'd complain to the website owners. I do a lot of browsing on my phone and have only experienced a pop up like that once before.

Actually Google has just addressed this when it comes to the apps.

Agreed. Cut and paste is by far the most annoying thing in Android. I've never been able to get used to it, even after all these years.

Except for the select all, the cut (scissor), copy (double sheet), and paste (clipboard) icons are pretty universal (unless you have never once used Microsoft Office).

Actually, I had been having trouble with being redirected to the app store on my iPhone and iPad to buy Candy Crush or some Titans game when visiting certain websites and using one app. Since I installed an adblocker, I no longer get redirected.

People have been complaining on the Apple forums but it's likely the app developer and a few websites are not even aware that an ad they are serving up is doing this.

I should have been more clear. I was talking about popups for anti virus. Popups for games and threads for tapatalk have happened on all my Android and iOS devices. But I have never seen one for anti virus apps on iOS, only Android.

Well you can set the option to have text with icon too. Also when you mouse over any icon it tells you it's function. Don't have that luxury using Android. And also the copy and paste icons are much less distinguishable from each on Android. I can't count how many times I pressed copy by mistake and lost what I originally copied.

With Swype you get an even better solution IMO. You can swipe from the Swype symbol to X, C or V to do the job. It's incredibly smooth and intuitive once you get used to it - those functions are the same as on a regular keyboard. I absolutely love this about Swype, and not having this is one of the things that really annoy me whenever I use my iPhone.

Of course not everyone will want to use Swype though. Google would do well to incorporate this into their keyboard.

Your point is still not clear at all. Are popups for games less annoying somehow?

I find those popups annoying regardless of platform and what type of app they are for.

The OS isn't annoying you, the website is.

Popups are annoying regardless. Is that the point you are confused about?

I see popups for games and stuff for tapatalk on both platforms. I see popups for anti virus on just one platforms. So in total, 2 categories of popups on one platform, 3 categories on the other. Having 2 categories of popups is better than 3 because it means less popups overall. What is difficult to understand about that?
