I wish Google still allowed adblockers that worked in apps like what I can do on my jailbroken iPhone and iPad.

I have an adblocker installed in Firefox on my Nexus 4 & 7 but that only works for websites.

I block any ads in apps that have them on my iPad. Yes, I know the devs should get paid for their time but when they force me to view a full screen ad that I have to close before I can use the app, I will block those ads and not feel bad about it.

Anyone know of any way to block in app ads on Android now?

You can sideload Adblock, but IMO, it's not working perfectly.

Annoying for me:

Google Now isn't a good personal assistant. I know that's not really what it's meant for, but I despise assistants like S-Voice and wish Google would perfect Google Now.

When I turn my phone and it changes from landscape/portrait in an internet browser it goes back a webpage, I have no idea why it does this and it bothers the heck out of me.

Navi doesn't know to mute when I'm on a phone call, iOS doesn't do this.

Apologies, didn't realize there were adblockers that don't require root.

Saw you mention jailbreaking so I assume you rooted too :)

The rooting process just seemed so difficult and I never wanted to take the time or felt confident to do it.

With iOS, it's so easy, download the app, connect the device and click a button.

Fair enough. There are some one click root methods depending on the device, but I've never owned a nexus 7 and don't want to lead you astray.

If you have a Nexus device it is simpler than anything you have done on iOS. HTC is a PIA. Samsung has a simple program to do everything for you.

Well I looked it up for the Nexus 4 and 7 that I have and it seemed pretty complicated. This was a year ago in February when I first got the phone and Nexus 7.

Wugfresh toolkit. Doesn't get any simpler. http://www.wugfresh.com/nrt/

Download app. Open app. Program! Looks for required drivers and if not found downloads them. Roots phone for you . adds custom recovery for you. Done.

Reverting a,nexus back to stock is literally one click of a button

Looks like thats a Windows only program. I only own Macs. I don't have Windows on any of them. I just have an old XP disc but that won't work with my version of OSX.

That program technically is 3in1 app designed to automatically do all the works for you.

1. Unlock the bootloader
2. Boot/flash into an alternate recovery
3. Use that recovery to flash a Superuser recovery zip

You can root it with this instruction for Mac and its video shows step by step.
Rooting Nexus devices is an easiest method I've ever done, and, basically, it's the same method on all Nexus devices. I did it with my Nexus 5 in less than 10 minutes, and it was painless.
