Nothing wrong with using plastic if you are going to be using a phone case anyway. Glass back is for the phone to be scratch resistant, just like glass front.

Apple went for glass back mainly for wireless charging, which was not doable with the aluminum unibody design of the 6/62/7.

My Pixel 5a is pretty much prefect for everything I need. Including camera quality, baddery, build quality, price point, instant Android updates and oh, I can hear the ringer on my pixel. Unlike, in comparison the 13pm.
