I hate how the new iOS looks. I'm going to try keeping the old iOS as long as possible

have fun staying on a soon-to-be-outdated OS.

Oh, btw, most apps will be updated to look consistent with iOS 7, so we'll see how long you can stick to the 'old' iOS.

Yes or no and why?

No. To my eye, Android 4.2/3 has a more serious look than iOS 7. I prefer the professional look of iOS 6 and Android to the cartoony, super-bright colors iOS 7.

As iOS 7 progresses through the various Betas, this continues to irritate me. It's just too bright, too white, and the icons still suck.

First, when android copy apple it's right ? Where have you been all the past years.

android has hundred of faces, every OEM design it different and all of them copied lots of basic stuff from apple, cydia and WebOS.

I'm wondering how android would look like without iOS.

Apple took some of the best aspects of Android and it shows. Thanks to Google and Samsung, they created a lot of great features and benefits for Apple to steal.

It's foolish to believe all smartphone companies are not "innovating" off each other. They do what they need to do at the time to be competitive. For example, Windows Mobile was hot when Android came out so Android had to do it better. Later they targeted the iPhone. Now the iPhone is looking around. Every year they all get better and we all win so the copy-cat thing gets old.

The winner in all this? Getting away from gawd-awful HTC handsets. :D

I don't see how they look similar. Android, for the most part, looks like a Tron-inspired, dark interface. iOS 7 looks much lighter and "abstract."

Agreed. Just one of the few reasons I've switched back to IOS6 after about a week after each beta release. I WANT to like it, and have been hoping each beta would be better, but there are just too many things I'm unhappy with vs. the things I like.

I tried the GS4 for 14 days before returning it. I really liked the screen size and the UI, but it's ability to actually work as a phone was killing me. Way too many calls that didnt go through or were not received sealed the deal for me, and I was back to my iphone5, as "boring" as it is.

This. I welcome all the new changes, but the color scheme is just way too cartoony and bright for my liking. I always like to keep things in dark colors, which goes just fine with iOS6; iOS7 just shoves bright white and neon colors over everything! EVERYTHING! Why?!

The Apple vs. Google, who-stole-what-from-whom debate is always fun.

As I see it, it's as if Apple had invented the car. It sold well, because it worked better than using horses and carriages. Google essentially copied it and came out with their own car. It was kind of clunky at first, didn't always start, and the ride was bumpy. But eventually, they came up with some nice peripheral features: power windows, sun visors, etc., and Apple eventually added those features to its own car.

So who stole what from whom? Arguably, Google stole the whole concept, but then refined it in some useful ways, and Apple stole those refinements. That's how I see it, anyway.

Thank You so much for this, could never find a good enough metaphore for this lol well put:D

A lot of people think that every new feature in ios 7 was taken from android, but those features are not exclusive or innovated by android. A lot of these first came from the jailbreak community of ios, but android popularized them and brought them into the mainstream public. So in essence, did they copy some of those features yes, but they were never created by android to begin with anyway.

Shhhh... It's not polite to break people's beliefs with facts... :p

They did take a few ideas from android and webOS. But being that android stole all of its core features from ios i don't think it's a problem. Apple needs to steal the picture in picture feature and ability to have a split screen and run two apps at once. I don't like the all white backgrounds. In ios 7 but I do like the colorful icons. It makes the screen have a super amoled-ish look to it. The icons really pop.

Like 70% of android users cos manufacturers don't support updates properly

This is the biggest reason I paid more for an iPhone rather than an Android. Too many Android handset makers simply abandon their products because there is no apparent incentive to provide security patches.

Google's Nexus phones are currently the only alternative to Apple that I find acceptable, because they do get timely updates, and can be purchased unlocked for a low price. I just didn't want to deal with a glass backed phone, and the iPhone also looked nicer.

There are few things wrong with iOS 6. Sure, some of the skeumorphism elements were tacky and had to go (felt Game Center, faux leather on calculator, note paper, for examples), and the keyboard badly needs improvement, but this didn't necessitate throwing out all that was good. Control Center, multitasking, Air Drop, and other stuff could have been implemented without the jarring interface changes.

Apples the company that initiated the "copy-cat" war with the legal assaults they launched against Samsung. Playing the bully, throwing their vast money into some of the worlds best lawyers they succeeded in getting certain models of Samsung smartphones barred from being sold. Not content doing that damage they're now in the process of attempting to block the sale of the Galaxy S4.

What was an accepted practice (copying) in other industries for 100 years (the auto industry is one) was suddenly targeted by Steve Jobs and Apple. Ascerbic, angry, and as Jobs said "Prepared To Go Thermonuclear" at those who copied Apple, they're on a seek and destroy mission. Backed by the strength of the believers that hold Apple up as the infallible God of companies, Apple automatically is forgiven for any responsibility. They are the chosen ones, that can do no wrong. :)

I'm not sure you understand how intellectual property works. The whole purpose of a patent is to prevent another from copying your invention.
