I hope you guys enjoy your fragile devices that break in half.

Ok, so interjecting More unnecessary hyperbole on ‘iPads breaking in half’ when it all started with some users experiencing a slight bend and you derive to that conclusion? You’re contribution to the current iPad comparison is frivolous in nature.

iPads are demonstrably more fragile now than they were a few years ago. There's a law of physics that can't be overcome.
These are products meant to be used a lot, carried around, in some cases used by kids in classrooms. Unfortunately they are not meant to be kept in a glass case. But as people like you keep demanding lighter and thinner products, you are also asking for a device that is considerably more breakable.

One of the things that some of us have loved about Apple products is their durability. People still use MacBook pros that are 8 years old. That will never happen with your flimsy iPad.

You want lightness at the expense of one of the most important qualities a product can have: Durability.
I'd rather have a device that weights a few more ounces, but actually feels solid.

I am not defending anyone, I’m telling it as it is.

Ridiculous. You’re confusing the ability to lift something up with comfort of prolonged use.

By your logic, no one would buy the 11” or the Mini, because why should they when it doesn’t matter if something is smaller and lighter. You have threads with multiple pages here where people say they chose the smaller one because the 12.9” was still too uncomfortable to hold raised, and at the same time a lot of those who say how they moved from smaller sizes to 12.9” once they realized how light it is now. “Too heavy to hold comfortably for extended periods of time” was the main complaint people had for the larger size of the previous generation and weight and weight distribution is one of the main physical things every review mentions.

But that is for majority of regular people. In your alpha muscular universe of manly engineers, I guess a thick and bulky device made of titanium would be great. And it should run a desktop OS too, while we’re at it, have 17 ports (3 of which are headphone jacks), mouse support and 128Gb RAM for Safari tabs. Also, fire Tim Cook.

I can only imagine what kind of supersoldier pragmatic pro survivor responses I would get here if I said this design also makes the tablet look nicer.

LOL. So even Apple basically admitting there's a problem isn't enough for you people...??

Enjoy replacing your destroyed ipads in a few months

You’re taking one thing and making into something completely different. I think that’s his point. Yes, there was a manufacturing defect with some iPad’s that curved when they cooled. This isn’t happening with every one and there is no indication that it’s an issue going forward. I have the 11 and it has no bend and I’ve thrown it in a backpack to and from work everyday without issue. The exaggeration on this site is a bit much.

I hope you guys enjoy your fragile devices that break in half. All becsuse you couldnt handle a device that weighs 2 whole pounds.
To me, thats what’s truly ‘ridiculous’ here.

What's wrong with just getting a case to make your iPad more rigid? I'm not a fan of super thin myself, but I find the really thin devices to be ideal once you add a case to it and just about everyone adds a case. It seems to me like the best of both worlds. People who want the lightest and least bulky device possible get what they want and the people who barricade theirs behind an Otterbox Defender type have something that's still recognizable.

I owned the original iPad. It was 1.5lbs. It was too heavy and I know my way around a gym. It gave me tendinitis from using it. It has less to do with whether someone can comfortably lift the weight and more to do with whether you can comfortably use the device for a prolonged period. 2lbs is nothing if we're talking about exercise weights. 2lbs is more than a lot if we're talking about something that is being handled with the small muscles of your hand and forearm for hours.

2lbs is also a lot if you're a photographer and you're already carrying 10lbs of gear.

Not really sure why people on here are getting mad at other people who aren’t having any issues with their product. Especially when neither party has anything to do with design or development of the devices. If you don’t like the design or think it’s flawed for your use, state your opinion and move on. No need to wish negative things on others.

For those of you who like the iPad Pro, great! Continue to enjoy it and hopefully nothing bad happens to it. Those of you who don’t want it because of issues, that’s fine too.
