I'm not sure what you mean. Snow Leopard was never on the App Store. How hard would it be include a link in the Store where one could find older OS versions? Given Apples resources it would trivial...
I hear you, but that's their point of our machines no longer being supported. They're only maintaining support for the current code set and the systems on the officially supported list.

If it was only people with the technical proficiency to fix their own problems that messed around with the OS tweaks (i.e. the people that won't call Apple for support) it would be a non-issue, but there's just too many people that break things and call up begging for help. A good example is the forums here. How many times do people post problems that if they only caught up on the thread, the solutions have already been posted for them?

The Mac Pro has had me perplexed. I never understood why they went through all the trouble to create such a new design and the associated manufacturing processes, only to never update the machine.

This!! The radical redesign of the Mac Pro made no sense to me to begin with -- folks who need significant computing power for their work generally don't care all that much about the aesthetics of the device they're using. On the other hand, there is a fairly significant group of computer users who enjoy radical case designs, crave new ways to improve the cooling of their hardware, and (in many cases) have significant dough to drop on hardware -- PC gamers.

When the cylindrical Mac Pro came out, I was absolutely sure it was the first step on the road to bringing the Mac to the high-end PC market. Give the new Pro a cheaper CPU, a more flexible GPU slot, and a more powerful fan, and you've got a device that could crush the competition even while maintaining a higher price point. But yeah, Apple never went that way; I guess their mono-mania on the iMac has reached all-consuming levels at this point... :(

Normally that would be the case, however I am not sure because El Capitan is the last supported OS for many older models and maybe Apple decides to keep it available in the App Store?

Personally I would prefer Apple would keep all the previous OS versions available for those who need them but given how Apple is pushing only the latest OS it doesn't seem likely to happen... :(

Download it now. Once it's removed from the app store you can still download it again from the Purchased tab.

Not true for Mavericks at least via the Purchased tab, only via Recovery/Reinstall on a comp that already has Mavericks installed.

I have Type-C port on my HacMac1/2ATXMini. lol No lights...I'm stealth with black box.
Heisenberg Style
Did OC my I7 to 4.5GHz tho.
I very happy with my build:D

I may have to join you in Hack-world if the new mac mini (which is almost certainly coming) is a disappointment. It is satisfying to build your own (when it works).

The new mac mini is of course going to be revolutionary and come with no head phone jack, usb port, ethernet port, or anything useful. The only thing it will have 1 thunderbolt or lightning (if apple really wants to be revolutionary) and that's it.

Actually no, the new Mac mini will come with no ports but 2xwireless chips so everything will be wireless, because courage.

I've had the courage and patience to wait 2 years for an updated Mac Mini. Nothing.

I have lost my courage and started to order parts for my Hakintosh build. At least that way I can swap drives and ad memory as the need arises.

I can wait a while longer as fitting a SSD in the 2011 Mini has given it a nice boost. If there is nothing new worth buying (with full set of ports!) by the end of the year I'm going the Hackintosh route as well.

Welcome to the dark side, we have cookies! (and expandable RAM, HDD/SSD, graphic card...)

My 2012 Mini is now two years old this week. We've had a nice relationship that Mini and I or I and it. Us.

I'm gonna keep on using my 2012 quad core Mini until it quits. The new one is coming soon. Santa told me.

My refurb 2012 Mini is 3 years old today, and just ran out of AppleCare.

We are on our own now. Just me and Mini, and the spare parts market.

Time to clean the air filter and be cool.
