Some overlap on the high end iPad but the low end is still poles apart. Half the price and more portable.
Yeah, this is true. But don't forget that the 64GB iPad has been the most sold.
I think a lot of users that bought the 64GB iPad are thinking about the new $999 Air.

You're welcome.LOL but what "you think" doesn't equate to squat 'cuz you have no knowledge on how others think. The products shoot two two differing purchase groups.
But thanks for letting us know "what you think" of 64 GB iPad owners purchase decisions...
Yes of course there are differences. I didn't say the 64GB iPad has become obsolete, but maybe the $999 Air is what some users wanted. A super think and light MacBook with instant on.I don't think this changes the equation at all. If you interested in something for more casual use, the iPad is still better. If you need notebook functions and a fixed keyboard then the iPad still isn't interesting.
Not in the same category. I got the ipad mostly for the 3G capability, and IF the air had 3g I might have something to consider ... in the future.

I think that you couldn't be more wrong.I know they have different purposes, but the new MacBook Air obviously I mean the first model starting at 999$ with 64GB really seems to me as an iPad competitor.
What do you think guys?

Why are you guys wasting time even comparing? Both are completely different products. You can't play Angry Birds on MBA 'nuff said.
