The new pebble watch and OS looks turrible

I don't think watch necessarily looks bad, but the bezel is quite large, which was for a reason.

Also, the OS looks awesome IMO. It's also pretty cool to see 30fps animations on such a power saving display.

I'm considering one and find it pretty awesome that a company with just over 100 people can figure out that the first person to preorder is the first person to get their watch shipped.

Yeah those E-ink animations are pretty impressive, and the design is way better than previous models, not a total fan though..

After so many years on retina displays, it's not that easy to go back to a screen that you can easily tell the pixels.

Used to own a Pebble steel, did't really have a good experience with it. The OS was buggy, even though they were updating quite frequently. Week-long battery was sweet though.

I enjoyed using the original Pebble until the tech was too obviously outdated. I supported them with the Time but ordered the cheaper toy-like plastic version (it hides the massive bezel better than the steel version). I love e-ink displays but probably will use it only when I go on trips where I don't want to be charging my watch all the time.

Having said that, I don't know if I'll be able to part with my :apple: Watch anymore...

That is the Moto 360 with lugs. Even the flat tire is there, just inverted.

Exactly what I was thinking when I saw the gif's. Does e-ink require fonts and graphics from 1995? It would look 10x better if they simply made the graphics UI look up to date. But I have no idea if e-ink has a pixel limit?

Personally I thought it looked very cool. Actually, if it had a HRM built into it, I would have very heavily considered buying one of them.

It suits my overall style and I happen to really like the design all around. I am not sure how he new OS will translate into real world use, but I think the concept seems very cool.

I like it as well, I think it is pretty cool. I mean, I own a g-shock which has the traditional digital display numbers. I think the pixelation makes it seem like a real modern digital watch and is pretty cool.

Don't forget that smart straps are an important feature. Surely there will be one with a HRM in it soon.

Wow I've looked at the kickstarter several times and must have completely glossed over the mention of smart straps for this thing. I do wonder how much support there will be for smart straps for this thing though? Seems like it has sold enough pre orders to warrant a pretty decent accessory market.

I may have to look into it a little more as I was almost completely sold on the idea of one but the only thing holding me back was the thought "if only this thing had a HRM, I would buy this over the Apple watch in a heart beat"......pun intended.

Still, I anxiously await my apple watch and am very much looking forward to using it in the near future (between may 29-and june 11 approx ;) )

Yep, I believe there were almost 80k preorders. I bet there will be plenty of smart straps in the very near future.

Interesting preview. But why did they have on the same page a video of a bunch of people who are apparently ignorant of the concept of a smart watch reacting negatively to the Apple watch? It would have been more pertinent to the article to see their reactions to the new Pebble, or even an older Pebble. Lovely of them to take every opportunity to take potshots at Apple while supposedly informing us of Pebble. I like my husband's Pebble steel so I like the new color display on the new Pebble, but the watch body looks ... I don't know. It's clunky I guess.

I agree - it's always my first thought when i see it.

I'm not sure, (if there was a world without the apple watch in it) that I would have upgraded to this from my kickstarter edition.

I know if I had one now that the apple watch is here I'd be feeling like I had the poor mans version. It's not the truth, but its how i feel

Can't wait to get my Pebble Time. I was one of the early backers. It has it's benefits compared to the apple watch. Namely, the outdoor visibility, water resistance rating, and battery life. The OS looks intuitive and a big step up from the OG.

PS- I love my Apple Watch too but the Pebble Time certainly has it's place in this market.

The screen was not increased in size to support previous apps, to make it easier for developers. I think it's worth it consedering a display with more pixels would sacrifice battery life significantly, not that it's one of the weak points of the Time and Time Steel.

I am interested in how their timeline feature works, especially since in an earlier Apple Watch interview, it was revealed that Apple had considered a "timeline" concept for their OS and later rejected it as not being feasible.

That said, my pebble watch more than suffices for what I do with it - which is basically to view notifications and reject the occasional incoming call. :p

I suggest you get your eyes checked. They're not even close, either in physical appearance or display appearance. That's like saying a Timex looks like a Rolex, because they're both round faces and have hands.
