No, it is horrible. They tried to make the Yahoo design work for them and failed miserably. They needed to work in tabs for the videos, blog posts, etc.

I never particularly liked their apps, but I had to see what everyone was complaining about.

Did you download the paid version? Get it while you can!

----------

This redesign ranks up (down?) there with the "Ribbon" disaster that Microsoft Office inflicted on us some years ago.

Edited to add: And does anyone really want "social weather"? Really?
Download the paid version, it's the old version of the app, it still hasn't been updated!

----------

I hate it too. If the default iOS app had radar the weather channel would be off my phone in a second.

Living downtown Chicago, by the lake, I've noticed all the brand name weather apps (Weather Channel, Accuweather, etc) pull weather from Chicago Ohare airport (Rosemont). The temperature there is usually 5-10F warmer than down by the lake. This makes those apps useless. Shame it's 2014 and they can't realize this. Weatherbug was my next choice, loved it, but the icons were always wrong. Said it would rain, but never did. So I went to Weather Underground, get accurate weather. Sure, not the sexiest app to look at, but gives me reliable weather (I am a weather nut, as I am an airline pilot and my job involves weather).

you must work for the weather channel! I have yet to talk to ANYBODY that isn't pissed off with the new app. It used to be really good and this new one is very pretty on the home screen, but has ZERO functionality.

Intellicast, FTW.

I live in Hurricane country and there is no better way to follow a storm. My only critiscism of this app is the slow load time when opening. That's it. Otherwise, it's awesome.

Yep...Intellicast has the best radar....TWC radar isn't sensitive enough....unless it's pouring you don't see any green....Intellicast will pick up drizzle.

I hate it too. So what I do is get the weather from the default app and then use the weather channel for radar.

Until they update it...

You can always save the app on a computer.

----------

I am still rocking the WU app. It takes a few minutes to properly setup but once you do it's glorious. Don't mind a couple dollars to get rid of ads. They are my go to in a browser, too, so I'm happy. F TWC.

TWC owns WU (as in they purchased them a little while back).

You didn't respond to my reply - why can't you just save the app in a backup and then delete update that you accidentally downloaded and restore from backup?

Was there something to respond to there? You made a statement about what should work as far as restoring the older version for those who would keep a backup of that app and make sure they don't replace it, and it sounds like a workaround like that would likely work for those who would do that.

I was pretty sure, but now I am 100% positive, you are the most resistant to change person on the internet.

After reading this thread I am laughing at this post. I don't like it either, it seems your opinion is in the small minority. Take it as a learning lesson, jump in too early it a thread trying to make the op look like jerk and future posters may boomerang it back at you.

The WU app is still far better than the TWC app.
True, you can (still) choose more stations and you can set it to use the NWS/NOAA forecast data, which certainly provides for some better options over TWC's app.

As someone who started their day with weather checks from TWC, SPC, local NWS and a quick check on Radarscope, I absolutely disdain using the TWC upgraded app. Too many taps to get to what I want to see. No way to dump all the fluff that clutters the main screen after de selecting all the ‘area of interests’ from the setup. I came to the app for weather data and a bit of eye candy from the video stacks I could quickly click through. I’m irritated every time I open it. Cancelling my subscription before the next renewal.
