"Battlefield Heroes™ is a brand new Play 4 Free game from the people that brought you the multi-million selling Battlefield 1942™ and Battlefield 2™" ....

how come it doesn't say "from the people that brought u bf 1942, bf2, AND BF2142?

was 2142 a different development team or something? I mean... it uses the bf 2 engine....

(this is taken from http://www.battlefield-heroes.com/)

I think that BF2142 wasn't considered as much of a success, especially considering that more people are still playing BF2 then 2142.

Guys I am sorry for giving misleading hope. I must have confused myself:/ I am now really bumped over that this F2P(free to Play) game wont come out for Mac. I really want to play this because you can customzie your characters weapons(like COD4) and looks(like WoW) while gaining ranks(like the other battlefields). That would be really cool.

Here is the story I confused Battlefield Heroes with. But maybe Battlefield 3 will be a much better game than Heroes?:

"A tipster sent us PDF document which looked like an outline of features for Battlefield 3. The three page document is apparently prepared for investors which should get it by December of this year. It details basic features of BF3, and are as listed:"

* Release in late 2008
* Powered by “Frostbite DX”
* Set in year modern day (just like BF2, ed.)
* Will ship with 8 maps, each supporting up to 40-players per team
* Two playable factions, NATO and MEC (Middle Eastern Coalition)
* Same “ticket-based” gameplay style as before
* Maps are mostly urban, based in Middle East
* Squads and Commanders are present, introduced are “Battalions” which consist of three to four squads.
* Five playable classes; Sniper, Assault, Engineer, Medic and Support
* Will feature 48 different vehicles (24 for each faction)
* Will feature 34 different weapons (17 for each faction) and another 22 unlocks (for both factions), in total 56 different weapons.
* Other unlocks include different types of ammunition, body armor, helmets, camouflage and accessories.
* Possible public beta in “Summer 2008″
* Online stats tracking, awards and “real world ranks”
* “Soldier” feature, looks like MMO-styled characters and avatars
* Ranked servers will be available for resellers weeks before the game ships (for testing, apparently, ed.)
* In-game replay and recording feature
* VoIP, friends list, in-game IM-client and “extensive clan support”
* Built-in auto software updater (no more patches!, ed.)
* Widows Vista and OS X (no XP?!, ed.)
* Announcement and teaser trailer in January 2008."

I read that leaked info too... and after then reading the press release for battlefield heroes, I came to the conclusion that the "leaked bf3 info" was total... crap.

Note that it claims that there are "48 different vehicles." Even if we say that the opposing factions vehicles will be clones, 24 unique vehicles is sort of ridiculous IMO.

Also, when I read that battlefield heroes was being released for windows (with no mention of mac), I lost all hope in the leaked bf3 info being true.
I mean, it would be GREAT if everything on the list was true, but I think we can be reasonably sure it's just a list of what we WANT... and probably won't get for a very long time : \

It's not for mac

I've contacted DICE and this is the reply I got:
Picture6-1.png

so EA is breaking their promise of all games being on Mac too. Oh well, those capitalists.... :( ....

-=EDIT=- if you can't read it, it says:
Thanks for your e-mail. There are currently no plans to release Battle Field Heroes for Mac.

Kind regards,
DICEINFO
.... well there ya have it ....

This Is Marketing

This leaked" doc with the BF3 overview looks suspiciously like it may mark the start of an official viral marketing campaign from EA. Who is the original source for this leak? I bet you they work for EA or their PR company!
