It should be around the old Macbok's price. 1699 is little too high and it will compete with the macpro. Apple do not want to see that. By the way, 3 - line laptops is too costing.

I see this as a completely new line. Also, I see this as completely dumbed down and don't see any reason for a steep price...except for small generally equals expensive in the computer world. Maybe Apple will change that. This should be less than $1500 (and should be closer to $1000). Anymore than that, Apple is just trying to capitalize on early adopters like they did with the iPhone. That is, unless there is somwthing we don't know about this macbook air...

I see this sitting somewhere in between the MB and the MBP in terms of pricing. The base model will probably come with 32 GB ssd and and a 120 GB iPod style hdd. There will be probably be an option for a 64 GB sdd upgrade costing somewhere in the neighborhood of $300-400. On top of that you'll need to shell out $200 for an external DVD drive. So a souped up model will definitely top 2 grand.

That's not really a smart move... I'm starting to feel like this might be the new cube... ie very cool, very pretty, but ultimately the lower specs and high price tag making it not a very smart move for most users.

This thing isn't gonna be cheap. If it's not a "MacBook Pro" model it will most likely be priced between the high end black MacBook and base MacBook Pro. It if it's a Pro model, it will probably be priced a bit under the 15-inch base model.

Either way, it's gonna be priced with a premium due to the size, new features, and pent-up demand. Those who want this thing will have to pay the price.

I'm sure we'll see several people complain about the price and the specs, but that's how it goes with new models, technology, and portability.

I predict that it will start at $1800, but that the configuration that most people will want will be more like $2300. Only time will tell (a little over 12 hours from now) :)

Man, I suck!!! I missed the base model price by a whole dollar, and the "most wanted" option by a whole $102

:D
