stereotyping = ignorance

When I lived in London, the police said that 100 % of apprehended pickpockets during the past year in the metro were romani (gypsies). So when I hear/see warnings for pickpockets, I wonder if they too are romani/gypsies.

It's not stereotyping, it's an association that I have. Stereotyping would be saying that gypsies are pickpockets, which I'm not.
