El Capitan is out in the wild and my question is: Is OS X El Capitan faster and more fluid than its predecessors?

Vote only if you have tested the final version of El Capitan, thank you!

Sounds great :) I skipped Yosemite because it was so freaking slow with rMBP 13" 2014...
One thing I've noticed is that Macs slow down severely when the HDD starts filling up, my Core i7 slowed that much it was like an old 486 Windows computer. Putting in an SSD made it fly quicker than when I first bought it. Don't know if you can do that with MacBooks.

I see no difference. However I'd like to note that I didn't have any laggy animation or anything in Yosemite. We should list the system because some, especially those with Intel graphics should have a more noticeable effect then others.

Mid-2012 cMBP, Dual 2.5 i5, 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB.

Works like a dream so far. Can't wait to see what future updates will bring!

All MacBooks with Retina Display + (nearly) all MacBook Air models do have SSDs out of the box. They won't ship with crappy HDDs, so this can't be an issue!

I'm curious about older macs. I have a late-10 i7 27" iMac, which lags when using Spaces, Launchpad, etc. I would always get a 2-3 second delay before they would work. Hopefully there is an improvement there, considering my OS is on an SSD, and I have 16gb of RAM installed.

I'm not finding that much of a difference. Beachball City..I wonder if my 2012 MBP is slow because I have Windows installed too.

**Updated***

After about an hour of El Cap it started working smooth sailing. I like way better than Yosemite.

Significantly better than Yosemite was on my 2007 iMac (old/slow 128MB video card is part of that). I rolled back to Mavericks early this year and have now gone to El Capitan, and it's at least on par with Mavericks UI wise. And yes it has an SSD as 8 year old HDDs aren't recommended :)

Also better on my (late) 2013 rMBP compared to Yosemite, better frame-rate in mission control and scrolling around.

Not much difference on my 13" MBA, but it doesn't have much screen resolution to power compared to the other two.

I've been happy since the GM came out.

Absolutely loving it. Like others said, the lag is gone from launchpad, mission control etc which was really annoying on retina macs.
It's buttery smooth now. Kudos to Apple for releasing the "successor" to Snow Leopard.

Here
I can swipe between spaces without it hanging mid way through. That happened 3 out of every 5 times I swiped in Yosemite 10.10.3 through 10.10.5 despite 2 clean installs.

Seems about the same on my 2010 MBP 2.66gHz i7 dual core with hyperthreading, 8GB RAM.

Latest version of Yosemite. I have the SSD in the optical drive, running the OS and apps, and a 2tb hard drive for storage. When I use Spaces, Expose, etc., via the keyboard or through my MX mouse, I get a 2-3 second delay before it works. It wasn't always like that, but it has been for the last year or so.
