Here is how the attenuation compared to other wireless headphones. Notably not a single other truly wireless earbuds are even in the top 25.

Here is how they compare to other truly wireless earbuds. Looks like the data shows these crush the Sony models.

That’s data .... but as somebody who owns both the Sony’s crush the AirPods ....

Longer battery life ? It’s rated worse with ANC and the same off. They are very much bugging the F out

I'll trust objective data more than subjective opinion.

To be fair, I was surprised by these results. To my ears, the APP ANC was good but not almost on par with high-end Bose good.

Lol well the data is wrong. Apple AirPod pros ARE worse. Every possible review says as much. Sorry everybody has said the Sony’s are better then the AirPods. If you don’t want to believe it and just blindly listen to them then be my guest but they are wrong in this case. Don’t get me wrong the AirPods do a good job but not as good as the Sony’s in ears. They lost credibility when they said they offer longer battery life.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Numbers don't lie. RTINGS is a very respected review site for their careful bench testing and objective data.

Whoever wrote that review should be fired ASAP. The Sony’s sound profile is similar TF? And worse ANc then the AirPods ? They are on drugs.

Sony’s have more bass and more clarity. The AirPods have a better sound stage tho which is quite impressive for earbuds. The ANC is Better flat out on the Sony’s. If this wasn’t Apple I would bet they got paid to say all this. The Sony’s are better earbuds on a spec sheet. Better ANC, better sound , better battery life. All that being said I think the AirPods are a better package tho

And I am calling them out on their stupidity. The numbers do lie in this case. They don’t have better ANC and don’t have better sound then the Sony’s.

I use them a lot but I will say they ARE wrong with this

Why did they not test them with an iPhone/iOS device though?

This is right here where I discredit all this. The AirPods pro battery life is worse then gen 2 or at best even depending on ANC is on or off

lol it’s not about their subjective opinions because they are using numbers which are wrong and using them as “facts” they are stupid for doing that

This is a rough diagram of their testing setup.

I don't think they'd be able to compare precisely the input/output with an iOS device.

I think Apple is being conservative with battery life. I personally have got nearly 6 hours out my AirPods Pro w/ANC on. It would be interesting to hear what others are actually getting.

Cheers for the info. Interesting results...

Curious about their battery life results - they’re quoting an hour more than Apple when ANC is on. Would this be due to them not being tested on an IOS device?

I was getting 5 and a half with gen 1. I’m getting around the same with the pros. Still it wouldn’t be longer then the gens 2 considering ANC takes up some battery life. I don’t believe the numbers with them nor have I experienced it.

I just returned my Sony... I had many problems with stability and the ANC was useless... overall sound quality was good. AirPods has better ANC much better stability and the sound quality is reasonable - so I decided to keep the AirPods Pro.

Passed down my first gen AirPods to my sister. Loved em. Got the Pro and something was off. Not comfortable at all until I moved to the large tips. Perfect! Definitely keeping them.

The best review because you see actually how good they are. Noise cancelling seems decent.

Thanks. Their data is much more complete than the first time this link was posted a few days ago.

I do think it's silly that they ding it for bluetooth performance without testing it with the H1 chip. The H1 is a big part of what makes these headphones so easy to use, and paired with an AppleTV, you get zero latency true wireless listening with a device that you hardly notice you are wearing. This was a revelation in our household with the first gen Airpods as my wife likes to watch tv that I'm not interested in - she now watches primarily through her AirPods and we are both happier.

They also rate the Sony's considerably higher on Bluetooth despite the Sony's being a complete PITA for multi-device pairing. If you switch between devices with Sony, you have to go unpair it from the last device used before you can pair to the other device. A real pain when I sit down to listen to some music and it pairs to my phone instead across the house. Also, the Sony's, like all regular bluetooth devices, have NO video options that remain perfectly in-sync.

The H1 is easy to pair with iOS devices, but nothing else. I have the Bose Soundsport free wireless and everything is in sync except the YouTube app on iOS. There is no noise cancelling, so the new airpods are tempting. The original airpods are ok but have no bass and sound like the earpods. The Bose also switch between any device quickly (press a button on the earpiece).

The airpods pro would be a better option but I will wait till they release a black version (if they ever do). For now, I will keep Bose, which sound very very good.

I dont have to unpair the Sony's to pair them again. In fact pairing them between my devices is as simple as going into devices and choosing it. It then immediately connects. Probably takes an extra 2-5 seconds than my Airpods.

Oh, I understand the H1 is Apple devices only, but so what? The VAST majority of people purchasing these are going to be using them with Apple devices - and they give the Sony's an 8.0 for bluetooth despite having higher native latency, the issues with multi-device pairing I alluded to above, and ZERO options for watching video in sync.

I like the depth of the review overall, but I think they have an obviously strong anti-Apple bias.

On the Bose you just press a button and it switches devices. If it doesn't detect the device it searches for the next one out of devices you have added.

Latency seems to be the main issue though and only with the YouTube app. Everything else is ok.
