They haven't said anything about AT&T/TMo/VZW/Sprint

That's because US carriers are notorious for being the slowest, bloatiest of all the world's carriers to bring new handsets to the market.

In 99% of countries, carriers will literally just get the phone and give it out, or will sell it off-contract.

Good point. Apple doesn't have an issue with this though. US gets it first :)

I understand what they were going for. They wanted to demonstrate in live action, how these flashy new features can be helpful in every day situations.

Rally a great idea, it sounds better than watching a well polished video.

However, the execution was repulsive. Never again. Everyone pokes fun that Samsung copies Apple... well they missed a couple notes about presentation.

Still from what I can see the phone looks great. I'd rather read the specs off a sheet than watch something like that though.

The fundemental problem with that is that the folks who will go to the trouble of watching this keynote are not the audience this keynote presentation was targeting. Those watching this will be reasonably knowledgable or enthusiasts. They don't need special need explanations to tll us how a translator works.

It just missed the boat completely.

The audience watching this want specifications, pricing, new hardware explanations not a child tap dancing...

Not once did they mention important things like wireless charging, or what specifications will be available in what regions. Those are important - having a baly acted skit certainly isn't.

What the f* was that.....?

I'm on Samsung's deck. I believe Apple is archaic in the smartphone industry and I think they should make the iPhone a 4:3 4.5" device with iPad version of iOS.

However, that was the WORST reveal presentation ever. Sexist stereotypes, terrible acting, musical ensemble with maybe 5 minutes of technical information.

Steve Jobs' presentations might not integrate a Broadway style musical but they got the job done- Reveal a product that people have been excited to see released and manage to follow through with expectations.

The Samsung S4 doesn't have to shine from under the S3's shadow. It just has to do what the S3 did, but better and faster with new features sprinkled on top.

A simple, "The Galaxy S3 was at the forefront of mobile technology with a large high definition screen, plenty of memory and integrated features to ensure it was the mobile device to have. The S4 is everything the S3 was, but better."

It was almost like they were trying to mimic Google Glass presentation.

Because apple does not allow AT&T/Vzw etc to put crapware on its phones. All the android manufacturers have to send the android software to these operators so they can put their useless software and then ship phones with the modified OS to the users.
Nothing of that sort in apple so it gets the phones out in market fast.

On the contrary, samsung will be selling faster in Asia region as most operators don't have subsidized phones and they are sold as is in the market. The international version i am talking about.

Has it occured to anyone that Samsung knew their presentation was over the top, and did so just to make headlines? Effective marketing, get more people talking about their new phone due to the odd reveal. More people will now know about the latest Samsung Galaxy S because of the weirdness of the announcement than if they did a more proper reveal.

Exactly what I'm thinking. Tech geeks will watch it no matter what. But with the buzz the presentation generated, average Joes will get curious and watch it to see what the all the media is talking about.

Even if they don't watch it, they'll hear about it and know what it was about... the Galaxy S4. If they know about they Galaxy S4 after this, the marketing stunt worked!

And as it should be, Apple is an AMERICAN company that employs loads of AMERICAN workers. Perhaps Apple manufactures overseas, but at least its overwhelming employee share is here in AMERICA.

Buying SAMSUNG means most of your money spent goes back to Korea (hey at least it's not China).

Samsung's presentation just signifies the quality & features of its phones: all over the map.
