Yea im sure the general public will get excited over an average type of computer:rolleyes:

And therein lies the rub.

Apple used to make computers with feature sets that appealed to the above average computer consumer. You know, the types that dared to deviate from the norm. The one's who "push the human race forward" to borrow Apple's words from their "Think Different" ad campaign.

i don't think the shine is off.

they've had some groundbreaking, leading edge toys - imac, ipod and now the iphone.

sure...it's been a bit quiet, but gee whiz....some companies never come up with 1 world changing product, let alone 2 (ipod and iphone).

Not to mention the uh... Apple 1, the Macintosh, and the Lisa

I think people expect them to pull a rabbit out of a hat every time they come on stage.

Well the real silliness on the part of some is wanting a rabbit pulled out of the hat just so they can immediately cry out at its inadequacies:

"Waaaaaaahhhhhhh, not THAT wabbit !!!!! I wanted the purple one!!! The one with extra toes... the one with short ears and a diamond navel ring! The CHEAP one!!!!!!"

One can well imagine Apple engineers doing extra yoga exercises or laps around the track or up and down the swimming pool right after a launch or upgrade of anything. The level of ingratitude, trolling, and generally boorish behavior upon launch of any Apple offering in the past six or seven years is really stunning, even during what I regard as a quite low period of human behavior towards other humans.
