Some of you may remember I hevaily complained about the 10.5 ASK feeling really cramped for me at a store... well, I just found out today that it's because they used a 9.7 ASK on the 10.5 iPad. I told a employee and he had the nerve to say it was the 10.5 ASK. Oh, really? Then whe doesnt it cover the the whole iPad? lol! I hate how these tech stores cannot cop up to their mistakes. Because of that I had been fooled by to believe that I had a bad experience on the 10.5 ASK... what's worse is that today all the iPads have dropped 100$ and I thought today is the day! But no, they don't have any iPads... only 1 pink. And one employee said they never had iPad gen 2 to begin with. Then why are they advertising it? And why is it cheaper when no one sells them? They're not even able to order one home for me. My god. Im sorry I'm ranting but what a joke.

The tech stores are so fake regarding iPads

If they're referring to the 10.5" iPad Pro it's not incorrect. The 10.5" iPad Pro is the first generation of its kind of we are going by display size.
He meant both. Gen 2 12.9 and grn 1 10.5 he checked their database and they have never had one home. Just that one pink 10.5 and first gen 12.9. Im so mad they had the neve to drop the price on an item that will never make it to the store. I dont know if a wanna laugh or scream, lol
We feel your pain. Standard 'get you in the door' tactic.
Order from Apple.com online and you will never have to worry about price gouging, receiving last year's model, long lines, silly excuses ( the truck is late, please try again tomorrow ), ect. Plus the 15 day no questions asked return policy makes it a stress free purchase process.
Rarely do I see big box stores beat the online apple store pricing and when they do, it is only by a small margin. Not worth the drive and hassle, in my opinion.
PS. I recently purchased a maxed out Mac Air for my daughter and two days later, Best Buy did have a sale that was about $300 less than what I paid through Apple. I though about the 15 day return policy for only a second. Apple has been very good to me, I counted this one as just unfortunate on my part.
The one thing I will say about retail stores, is they have really increased the competition with price matching with just about any other competitor. In store retailers really want the consumers business, they go to lengths for you to make the purchase from their store. My experiences with prior price matching used to be a finicky thing in the past. Now, I feel like some retail stores don't even check competitor sites to see if they even have the item in stock to price match.
I think the correct genre is '"tech" store' with "tech" in parenthesis. The majority of people that work in these store know as much about tech as I know about astrophysics. (That would be none). I've caught them making up stuff many times. It's annoying because to the tech-deficient their answers sound legit.
That said I don't know what store you are referring to but most stores have on-line inventory checkers now and can even reserve or buy online for store p/u. No need to go to the store to find out they don't have stock. And if it's advertised and a known store, Apple and others will price match. Apple will price match up to 10% off full price if it's a B&M store. They will not price match online stores.

In most stores they're just sales people. Although the guys at an Apple Store ain't bad.

I will listen in situations where I bump into something was not looking for but the genre is something on a not-priority shopping list of mine. I will ask about it and maybe get some hands on and then thank them and say want to think about it. I prefer to shop online to get a sense of pricing, but for a lot of things I also want a physical sense of the build quality, say stuff like speakerdocks or wireless speakers.
It also pays to remember it's okay to look at something you're not shopping for at a given time, while you're shopping for something else. It's great to get some incidental hands on experience and do the rest of the homework later on: detailed tech specs, options, an idea of what the refresh cycle is, pricing, etc.
You don't have to worry about price gauging because you're always paying the highest price. I'm not sure I understand your big box store comparison. For plenty of national chains, there is pricing parity at launch and then the discounts get applied here and there while Apple maintains full retail. I'd rather shop at Apple TBH so I'd love for this to be true.
OP, some details about your location and the store may help understand your predicament. Could you not order what you wanted at the advertised price?

I don't know. I have had some pretty good experiences with Best Buy. Bought a new MBA 2014 right after release for less than $800. Replaced my iPhone 6s for $350 on sale.....had to signup for Next program, but can pay it off at anytime.
I don't think Apple would match these prices. Best Buy also has a pretty convenient trade-in program for those who don't want to deal with Craig's list.

I don't think customers are necessarily "Ditzy", as much as they are ignorant about technology. Most consumers shopping in an electronic store have little knowledge about technical specifications or product knowledge, at least compared to those who frequent tech forums on a regular basis. My advice is always ask questions when someone isn't sure or in doubt, because the customer is the one who is paying for the product. But the tech store employees are not always trained appropriately for the product they are selling either, but someone with general knowledge can usally identify who those inviduals are.

Seeing that I have purchased thousands of iPads and Macs and have only seen one day ( one time in 6 years ) a store beat the Apple store pricing ( black Friday Thanksgiving and only had 10 available )... I'm not sure I understand your comparison.
For example:
Today: Best Buy near me, basic iPad: $329, open box: $299
Apple Store: $299 each or $294 as I purchase them in groups of 10.
Please let me know when Best Buy or anyone beats that everyday Apple pricing.
Sure. Got my last Pro from Best Buy for $150 off a few weeks after launch. Savvy shoppers will frequently see standard iPad and Pro model from $75 - $150 off. Just not at launch. If you buy in quantity, your needs are clearly different and these prices would likely not apply anyway.
There are stores like B&H or Adorama or Macmall or Costco/samsclub those stores beat Apple Store pricing.
Do not tease, show a quote, today. Beat the Apple Store pricing. I checked... none of them come close to Apple pricing.

If you aren't capable of going directly to sellers websites, see pricing, sign up for sale emails for yourself, then nobody can help you here. Stop using whatever website you posted for pricing, they are wrong, and given the word sponsored trying to direct you somewhere. In the last 5 weeks I bought a new model 27 inch IMac, 256 GB 10.5 and a 128GB iPad mini 4 with $100 off each on one or two day sales at Best Buy. Guess you won't believe me either. Apple never has sales, retail stores do, quite often. Don't know how to you could be responsible for purchasing thousands of anything and not know shopping 101, but hey it's the internet.
