He bought his 840 EVO in july 2014, so already with latest EXT0DB6Q firmware out of the factory.

One more thing: since upgrading to macOS Sierra a few day's ago, his Time Machine became extremely slow and Superduper! doesn't finish cloning... So we decided to manually backup his data to a NAS and then reformat the SSD after four years of heavy use (copying lots of movies).
Since we Mac users don't have acces tot Samsung's Magician software, i assume Apple's Disk Utility should do the job. Is that correct?
