For those who bought an iPad yesterday who were left disappointed this thread is for you. I've been playing with it for a day now, and there are plenty of things to love about it, but plenty to hate, so I'm curious if anyone has tried to return one to Best Buy and what sort of penalties they were assessed with, I've heard so many conflicting things. Usually if the item has an extra re-stocking fee, Best Buy clearly spells that out by putting a sticker on the box, making you initial something on your receipt, etc, but they didn't do that with the iPad.

For me, it boils down to a couple of things:

#1 - I can't find a comfortable position to type, I have a much easier time typing on my Iphone

#2 - The screen glare is just too much - I was at Starbucks today and unless I am going to get the manager to draw the window shade every time I come in, I'm going to have to find a dark corner of the coffee shop to sit in.

#3 - Lack of multitasking - Makes it difficult to keep having to hit the home screen and switching back and forth between AIM, email, web, etc...

I know, I knew it didn't have #3, but when I add everything up, for me it just isn't worth the $550 (with tax) that I paid for it considering I already have an Iphone and a 13.3 inch Macbook pro, so I think I'm going to return mine today.

Multitasking coming in June with os 4.0. This will be a free update for iPad.

Did you get the official apple case. It helps to create and awesome viewing and typing angle. I haven't felt like i need an external keyboard yet.

That's still a rumor but I think they are going to allow apps to run in background rather than allowing them to run side by side.

Screen glare not a problem, typing not a problem it's actually freaking awesome way better than i expected, multitasking coming in next OS update. Only issue I have is no support for flash but I knew that before I bought it and I am completely happy with it no reason to return it.

Cheers

Oh great so now you guys are gonna sit all day at Starbucks and take up space for people who actually just want to drink something talk for a bit and move on.

I heard a rumor that triple clicking home will make the screen do an expose thing like Mac so you can see all the apps. I'm not sure what you mean side by side.

If lack of multitasking is such a deal breaker then why did you get it in the first place when it has been known for months that iPad will work just like an iPhone in that regard?

No it brings up a menu with 3 options for accessibility or you can just set it up to open a setting for you.

But it is "magical and revolutionary".

In all seriousness, I haven't run into the problems you have, but to each their own. Enjoy the extra $500-$800 =)

Side by side means you can see multiple apps at once, as seen in here. For example, many people put their twitter client app on their desktop so they can follow their friends while browsing the web rather than switching between apps every once in a while.

Why return it when it makes such a great coaster?

And don't forget, you can take it into the bathroom with you!

Check this out and get it before apple pulls it from app store.

I was sitting in the park reading my iPad and some lady walked by and her golden retriever relieved himself on my leg.

WTH.

I am trying to see about returning mine too.

[just a joke just a joke just a joke just a joke]

Turn your iPad 10 degrees in any direction....fixed

Actually no different than going into a Panera Bread and see a dozen or more people with laptops, papers spread out and one person per table. Some were not eating or drinking anything. My wife and I have gone several times and those with the laptops were there when we got there and were there when we left:(, bummer dude. Will I do it?, YES, oops, I mean, of course not:D

Pretty sure, no one's gonna want an open box for the same price as sealed one. For $75-100 less, there is a chance. But then again, why not just return it, which is hassle-free unlike reselling?

Check eBay, craigslist, you'd be surprised. With no tax you can likely get retail. You'll lose $$$ but less than $75. If you are willing to ship overseas, you can make money.

ash =o)

I'm thinking of returning mine too. I planned to use the ipad mainly as an e-reader and it's too heavy for that (at least for me, I do most of my reading in bed before I crash). Another thing, I've not found a good way of holding my ipad that's not awkward, except for laying it flat on it's back. However, that position isn't really conducive for what I wanted to use the ipad for. I have a net-book I can sit upright reading off of.

I'm not knocking the ipad it's a great device but at this point it's not a necessity for me. I'm still on the fence and haven't made a final decision but that's where I'm at right now.

Why would you spend that much money on a product without researching it first? Anyone with a computer could have easily discovered it has no multi-tasking function.

Or did you purchase it just so you can come to these forums and complain?
