Why would you spend that much money on a product without researching it first? Anyone with a computer could have easily discovered it has no multi-tasking function.

Or did you purchase it just so you can come to these forums and complain?

He said he knew it didn't have multitasking. He clearly said that, if you read what he wrote instead of just instantly getting mad at him because he doesn't like his iPad. And how else was he going to "research" how much glare it would have or that he wouldn't like typing on it? It would've been much better stated if you told him he should've tried it more before buying it.

Why don't you read his entire post?! He said he knew about the multitasking and it was not a deal breaker, it's the other things that are bothering him IN ADDITION to the no multitasking. I'm sure if his only complaint was mo multitasking he wouldn't be thinking of returning it.

Geez why can't people post their honest experience with the iPad without being attacked. It's not a slam dunk device, get it over it.

The iPad is more great than I thought, I think my MacBook Pro is going to feel neglected, it's not the baby anymore.

Typing from my iPad now and it only took me about 2 minute if not less to type this, with no errors.

:)

It less likely that the iPad is so great and more likely that you really didn't use your MBP up to its full potential.

That probably accounts for >90% of the people. Same applies to any PCs. We tend to buy computers way more powerful than we really need.

Typing from my desktop now and it only took me about 15 seconds if not less to type this, with no errors. Seriously, I got an iPad, love it, but typing in stuff is not its strength.

I have both. The iPad is better at consuming and the Macbook Pro is better at creating.

I could never read long articles or books on the laptops or desktops. On the iPad it is like using a real book or magazine.

E-mails and forums are equals.

When I consume the iPad is king.

When I create the Macbook Pro is by far the best.

Different tools for different tasks.

That doesn't seem right. I will double check my receipt - but I can't believe it would be that high.

It's not right. It's a 15% restocking fee as it is considered a tablet computer thus falling under their computer return policy. :apple:

Mine is going back.

The problem is that it doesn't fit as perfectly in the mobile device space as Steve would like us to believe. For me, there is no gap between a laptop and a phone.

My laptop is better than the iPad because it is a more flexible and powerful device that does everything I could ask a computer to do. My iPhone is great because it is portable and handles a reasonable amount of the tasks I accomplish with a computer-like device. When using my iPad I'm having a slightly more comfortable, but still limited iPhone-esque experience.

I find myself feeling like I would just rather be using my MBP or my iPhone. To me it feels like it takes the worst parts of both of those devices (size, limited OS) and combines them.

For me there is no space for this device. This won't apply to everyone. Users with only a dumbphone and a desktop may love it and that is great for them. However, its just crowding my mobile space and preventing me from using my other (already paid for) devices.

I'm thinking of returning mine too. I planned to use the ipad mainly as an e-reader and it's too heavy for that (at least for me, I do most of my reading in bed before I crash). Another thing, I've not found a good way of holding my ipad that's not awkward, except for laying it flat on it's back. However, that position isn't really conducive for what I wanted to use the ipad for. I have a net-book I can sit upright reading off of.

I'm not knocking the ipad it's a great device but at this point it's not a necessity for me. I'm still on the fence and haven't made a final decision but that's where I'm at right now.

If it makes you feel better, I don't think that its a necessity for anyone.

I "think" the way Apple sees future of computing is that you have a iMac or MBP in the house as the main "workhorse" producing content and sync and have an iPad for everyone in the family "consuming" content.

Think for a sec. Family of 4 now equal one iMac $1500 + 3 MB ($1000)= $4500.

Future....iMac $1500 + 1MB $1000 + 2 iPad ($600 average)= $3700 save $800

or Future iMac $1500 + 3 iPad ($600 average)= $3300 save $1200

Or not having kids: priceless.

(I'm only kidding.)

I sure hope I don't have to downgrade to an iMac in the future! :D

To hell with the laptop, I haven't even used the desktop since I got this iPad I can't seem to put the thing down :D haven't been addicted to a device like this in forever! Feels good!

I was thinking about returning the wifi version if I end up wanting to get the 3G version, but my wife offered to take the wifi version if i don't want it. Hmm..

if no kids then you DEFINITELY should ALREADY have an iPad:D....an an iPhone, iMac and MBP.....priceless!

No kids and indeed:
-15" unibody MBP 2.53GHz
-13" unibody MBP 2.53GHz
-iPhone 3G (jailbroken)
-iPod Shuffle (red)
-wired numeric Apple keyboard (chicklets)
-but used to own 2 Airs (last one was sold on hope of getting an iPad, but I will not get first gen) and a couple of unibody and plastic MBs.

Also, my girlfriend has 2 (?!) iPod Nano), an iPhone 3G and 15" MBP

But people regularly call me an Apple hater and a troll. So much about name calling and accusing critics with "not having enough money for an iPad".
