I'm kinda that way in nearly every material aspect; I have had 9 computers (6 Macs, 3 PCs) in the last 1.5 years. Three cars in that time period as well. .

Holy crap. You are a compulsive buyer. Not sure if your "urge" to jump ship is anything like anyone elses urge.

I have not had any inkling of switching to another phone, another carrier definitely, but the iPhone is the apex of smartphones. I know there is nothing better and therefore don't bother thinking about finding another.

@Opie: I agree with the major iPhone revision this year (hopefully software, hardware, and design), but June can't come soon enough..

Hopefully as a dev we'll see a 4.0 beta in the next two-three months and that'll provide some fourth iPhone pre-excitement.

There is nothing wrong with trying out a new phone platform if you can afford to do so, and it sounds like you can (if you really did buy 9 PCs and 3 cars in 1.5 years). No one here can tell you which device will fit you best, so I say go for it!

The iPhone is actually the first "smartphone" I've ever owned (since January '09), because before that, I didn't care what kind of cellphone I had - it was (and mostly still is) just for emergencies.

My brother had the first iPhone, so I got to try it out, and loved it - the multitude of apps, simplicity of the UI, and let's face it, it's pretty cool-looking.

About Jailbreaking: I doubt I'll ever do it again. I *LOVE* the control JB'ing gave me in terms of changing themes, giving me access to the UNIX shell, etc....BUT. Jailbreaking also slowed my iPhone to a CRAWL. There was very noticeable lag not only in games, but also in regular apps too. Sometimes typing on the keyboard would lag as well.

Unless there's been a major change (or will be with the next iPhone), I won't jailbreak again.

I've heard rumors of the next iPhone having a thin metal casing...if so, I'm all over it. Anyone have some good mockups? :)

^Verizon already has LTE trials out in a few cities. 30 cities will be lit up by the end of the year/early next year.

AT&T hasn't even finished upgrading to 7.2. They are really behind the 8-ball here in terms of getting to LTE.

Can you show me a phone (now or even in the pipeline) that will work with LTE? But we know a certain phone on ATT right now will work on 7.2.

Tmob

I switched to AT&T in November from T-mobile. 2 months later I regret it. The phone is beautiful, The service is kinda bad.

Very happy with the nexus one wow, it pretty crazy compared to my iPhone and the screen is amazing, side by side the iPhone looks old and dated, hope 4.0 is amazing as we all hoped for.

I am using a 32GB 3GS and I did have the urge to buy a HTC HD2. But after using it myself first-hand, the lack of proper and affordable apps turned me away quickly, along with the hate relationship I have with WM and a rather messy inteface.

I become tempted to switch cell phones each time a new phone is annouced or released (Droid Eris, HTC Hero, Nexus One, Droid). But I ask myself the question of what doesn't the iPhone give me that these phones will? The answer is absolutely nothing. I am quite happy with my iPhone, and even with AT&T's service in my area. Therefore, I am very reluctant to switch carriers/phone's. I typically am the guy who wants the latest and greatest. But with the amount of money I've invested into my iPhone with the apps that I have downloaded, I figure that switching phones will only satisfy me for a few months, then I'd be tempted to go back to the iPhone. To me that's not worth it. So if you're happy with your phone/service, why switch?

My service is just OK in my home office, so I am looking forward to the Microcell to come to Austin to fix that. Otherwise, I am happy too. I plan on buying an Android device once they are available from ATT outright to play with, but I am not giving up the iPhone. I am really looking forward to the next version.

Lately I've been thinking even about just picking up my old dumbphone again.

But then I think about it and the iPhone's the only phone I've ever liked texting on which is what I mainly use my phone for so I'd be driven back to it in a day anyway. And all the ways I use my iPhone that I can't use another phone. And even though I dislike iTunes it is easy to be able to sync everything back and forth and keep back ups.

I usually keep phones for 2 years, and I've had this one for a year now so that probably explains the beginning of longing for change. I hope Apple do a lot to change it this Summer though. I bought a 3GS and returned it because it didn't feel like a new phone.
