I gotta say that I use it in Spain for almost everything and no issues. I just use Google maps for the bigger review community, but for actual maps features, Apple Maps is quite fine
I had Apple maps fail in Tenerife last month where it suggested a destination about 20km away. I reported the issue to Apple.

Of course, no doubt about it, considering the U.S. is the only powerhouse of the world, it totally makes sense that these features are exclusive to the States.

Unless you’re someone who flies a lot without bringing your physical wallet, the wallet ID is useless.

I’m in Maryland and nobody accepts it as a form of identification even when they should.
I'm looking forward to the day where I no longer need to carry around my physical ID. Sadly, this roll out has been so slow, it probably won't happen in my lifetime (I'm in my mid-30s!).

Ah got you.

I just dream of a day when i can go to a bar and just double click and be able to get inside without having to fumble through a purse for it or like thanksgiving, when i lost my ID because i dropped it somewhere while waiting to get in a bar.

that's fair and I can totally get the frustrations. All of the major companies do this though(Microsoft, Google and Apple) for whatever reason.

I am sure it is a nuisance, but are you able to change regions to possibly see if that would work to get the feature? You shouldn't have to, i am just curious if changing regions would work.
I can change region and language, then I'll get the features, but some of them, like the #images in messenger, just don't make sense to me. Why can't I search for a gif, just because I live here? Makes no sense to me.

Well since I don't live in the US, crossing state borders is not my concern.
But I can definitely see the benefit of having my UK drivers license in a digital form.

🙂
I am living for the day I can add my license to the wallet app.
Can't come soon enough. 👍

Interestingly, the previous manufacturer of British passports, De La Rue, were at one point looking into developing digital passports. They then lost the contract so presumably development stopped. Around the same time, the DVLA and DVSA (Britain’s government driving departments) were experimenting with digital driving licences.

Ah yes… 2016.
7 years ago. Still nothing.

That's always been available in the UK too. It's just up to the carriers to decide if they're going to support it, and AFAIK in the UK there's only O2 who do.
Also EE and Vodafone.
O2 was the first iPhone carrier in the UK and for a while was the only service to bother with visual voicemail.

not true, i'm on EE and have it.
i think only Three currently don't support it.

although i wonder if the OP doesn't mean visual voicemail, but the new voicemail feature where it displays a transcript of the voicemail live on screen - that is currently US only.

Yup, I daily-drive Apple Maps in the UK and only had one recent issue with an incorrectly placed marker. When I reported it, it was fixed within a couple of days. Issues I've reported to Google are still not fixed after years.

Google Maps has become an advertising app rather than a navigation map. Put both side by side in somewhere like a city centre and you'll see the radical difference.

Apple Maps also doesn't appear to hammer the battery as much as Google Maps did, plus I feel the directions on what lanes to be in on motorways is a lot clearer too. With the offline maps now available in Apple Maps, I'll literally never have to use Google Maps again.

Yeah that is a bit odd. I guess you never realize the privilege you have sometime haha

They want eSim NOT to be a thing. They much prefer the way things are now where it’s not reasonable to expect that it can be done quickly AND remotely (which it can).
Which is weird. Why wouldn't carriers want (a) to reduce waste and cost by eliminating physical SIM cards, (b) make SIM-jacking a thing of the past (or at least a lot harder), and (c) save money on staff by connecting new devices to their networks easy via the web, an app, or—best yet—iOS itself?

While not specific to iOS - we're also missing the full Apple One subscription that includes Fitness Plus and Apple News. Not that I need these two services, but that's the only way to get to 4Tb of iCloud Storage instead of paying for 6tb.

who is "we" as it's certainly available in the UK

The UK is only one territory. One of only four worldwide that has Apple News. I know the sentiments on Apple News have been mixed, but that's an amazingly small rollout considering it was released over 8 years ago.

I actually used to think that, but recently I drove from Lincolnshire, England to the South of France, used Google Maps on the way there, then used Apple Maps for the way back. Apple Maps was way clearer on which lane to be in, I felt like I had more time and notice for turnings etc and the voice just felt like actually having a person next to me directing.

I do however still insiticvly use G-Maps day to day!
Same! Did a road trip across the UK and another one through Central Europe and used Apple Maps both times. Worked just fine.

I’m frankly surprised even 5 states were able to enable the drivers license feature. I live in WA and you’d think with Amazon, Microsoft, T-mobile, and a very large tech community on the west side our state would be a tech leader. lol

All six features are useful except this useless and pointless Clean Energy Charging. Whoever came up with this concept had one job.
