I do like the slim bezels, but in order to do that they needed an ugly camera bump on top. The whole design is pretty clunky IMO.

Edit: also for $1,253 you get an Intel i3 processor with UHD graphics which is horrible in comparison to the M1.

Also I know some people don’t care about what the sides/back look like but this thing is pretty bulky.

A lot of MacRumours commenters should really become angry when they find out this AiO comes with 128Gb SSD as standard.

I also found that another model (ENVY All-in-One) comes with a spinning drive in a $2300 computer.

You can even get this modell with 4Gb of RAM and a 128 GB SSD.

HP does get credit for above average effort at design in the PC world.

But those slim bezels surround FHD and QHD/2K screens (27" option), which would be a downgrade to iMac users accustomed to high resolution displays.

A ballpark 27" configuration also costs about the same, if not more than a comparable mid-range iMac.

I don't think the bezel-bashing is an Apple-specific phenomenon as I have seen this on pretty much every laptop review in the last few years. I understand that in portable devices it may make a difference as one can fit a larger screen into the same shell with thinner bezels thereby improving overall usability without sacrificing portability but there's a point where it gets ridiculous and impractical.

Case in point: Dell's XPS 13 or Huawei's MateBook with their up-nose cams.

I’m not sure how Apple does it. The HP looks cheap compared to the iMac, but I can’t place my finger on why. I think it’s the rounded corners and even bezels. Maybe it’s the silver plastic that makes it look bad. I dunno, the camera that is sticking out the top is a definite strike against it, and those square stands just look odd to me.

Details matter. Plastic is used everywhere, but how it’s used and finished can make something look cheap or refined.

In my experience, HP quality control is poor. My father has had 3 different HP laptops and all of them suffered things like failed WiFi, dead USB ports, and a flickering screen. They look the **** out of the box, but then it all goes off the rails.
