I am basing this on what I saw done on the iPad keynote last week. I see no reason that the iPhone should not sport the same features.

- custom background on the home screen, which should hold us off until 4.0 comes around - which is rumored to have full customization.

- landscape "everything" including the home screen. My personal preference is portrait as I am an early adoptee of iPhone I am used to everything in portrait. I hope they make it an option to disable landscape systemwide - or I'll have to jailbreak for that purpose only

- multiple word auto correction / capitalization. I know this is small but it's what I noticed, I forget if it was in the keynote or in the video but I noticed when there was typing it automatically capitalized 2 words. For instance if I type "new york" it comes up as "new York" but with 3.2 both words will come up as being capitalized - at least that's what I noticed.....

Anyone else notice anything else worth noting to expect for 3.2?

they could implement an sbsettings and mywi of their own version. and a categories application...and multitasking. those would be nice.

Between now and June - a Save function. Not just pictures, but any file format compatible with the phone or its apps.

Background pictures maybe but pretty pointless unless you leave your homesceen empty.

As for the save function apple already answered that when the 3g came out and said they would be reluctant to do so due to piracy and or copyright issues.

I doubt all those features will come in a .1 update, but I could be wrong. I am pretty sure that the iPhone OS 4 will include that, among other things, that will catch the iPhone up with features in the Droid. I doubt we'll ever see full customization though, as even OS X does not allow that without third party apps.

I agree.
3.2 will probably be a minor update.

Not so sure about the custom home screen backgrounds, but I do agree with the landscape home screen. The iPad, which runs 3.2, was demo'd showing a landscape home screen; so the iPhone will most likely also have it

What else is left? The iPhone does everything now... remember?

Well I would like to see following functions:
* Better Battery life
* Photo sharing over bluetooth (not everyone lives in countries were net connection is cheap)
* Delivery Report

and on 4G
* Video calling

Two things I would like to see, don't know if they are simple or not.

1. Ability to lock down the phone in either portrait or landscape. When I am lying about browsing it often rotates when I don't want it to.

2. A one touch bar to instantly take you to the bottom of a web page the same way the one that exists takes you to the top. This would be useful for regular users of forums such as this. :D

There that's it, i'm not greedy.

3.2 Will not be appearing on a handset near you.

This is just a guess.
But I think 3.2 is a purely a placeholder OS which exists to allow iPad developers to create some apps.

The next OS arriving at platform iPhone will be the 4.00 to Coolsville.

I don't think we'll get backgrounds or landscape home screens for one reason.

The iPad and the iPhone both have the same amount of icons on the screen, but the iPad is more spread out. This means that you can see the background on the iPad (on the iphone it'll be too hidden by icons) and on the iPhone if you rotate the home screen to landscape there wont be enough room vertically for all the apps, and horitontally they'd be oddly spaced out. This isn't an issue for the iPad as they are spread out and can be bunched a bit as we saw.

THe background, has a chance of making it in, the horizontal home screen, not going to happen.

Will we even see 3.2? Perhaps this isn't the right thread but doesn't apple usually show off its new iphone/os in March which is next month and then release it in June? If they haven't released 3.2 out yet, why would they do so when 4.0 is coming up quick.

I'd love to see a way to accept/reject meeting invitations in Calendar. No idea of why this isn't available; I've looked to see if there was a way to do it if my phone was Jailbroken. Nothing. :(

I'm able to accept/reject invitations in calendar. I'm not sure why you cannot.

On your iPhone? How? I can see I got an invite in Mail, but I can't see the details, nor can I accept or reject it. I have to open Mail and Calendar on my Mac to do this.

You need an Exchange account to do this. It doesn't work otherwise.

There is one major reason why the iPhone will not see 3.2: The SDK is only for the iPad. The iPhone will not see another major release until 4.0. 3.2 was forked from 3.x and is only for the iPad. They will surely merge the two back together again for 4.0.
