Im in the '3.2 is a placeholder' camp.

Just using it until they release OS 4.0 at WWDC.

This is just a guess.
But I think 3.2 is a purely a placeholder OS which exists to allow iPad developers to create some apps.

The next OS arriving at platform iPhone will be the 4.00 to Coolsville.

C.

I have to agree with you. If a 3.2 is given to us, it will be an update that won't need a developer beta but will probably give us a document app of some kind so 3rd party applications can share, export and import docs as needed. I also think we will see springboard backgrounds as well as the landscape springboard. What I don't think we will see is an iBooks App/Store for the iPhone. I also think we will get this in the next month or so. I think we will see a 4.0beta for both iPad and iPhone in March/April, with a hardware release of the 4th generation iPhone in June/July.

Give it Cydia capabilities Fully Customizable, also for the love of Pete, let us be able to:

Customize sound settings, I so bored of the dull sounds for Remiders and TXT msgs, let me add some different noises Please...

Two things I would like to see, don't know if they are simple or not.

1. Ability to lock down the phone in either portrait or landscape. When I am lying about browsing it often rotates when I don't want it to.

2. A one touch bar to instantly take you to the bottom of a web page the same way the one that exists takes you to the top. This would be useful for regular users of forums such as this. :D

There that's it, i'm not greedy.

I totally agree, i've been sending the first suggestion to apple for years through feedback and they're normally good about incorporating functional and simple ideas through apple.com/feedback so if enough of us suggest that it may come to fruition ...

A double click on the home button to bring up a setting to toggle quickly between Bluetooth and/or WiFi On/Off.

I've also suggested soelthing like this several times, such as when driving or walking by many wifi spots, there should be a "turn wifi off button" in the popup menu that shows the available networks.

For everyone here that has good ideas, send them to apple directly because they actually read them and it can make a huge improvement for all of us!

Anyone knows when Apple will showcase the 4.0 update?
The last two roadmap keynotes were in March, but so far I haven't heard anything about iphone 4.0...

iPhone 3.0 was shown off on March 17th which is a little over 3 weeks away there's still time.

Yea I know, but there's usually booking info beforehand, but figuring since they usually present those things at their own auditorium I guess there isn't much info leeking out until the invitations start to circulate. :)

Because I think 3.2 is only optimized for iPad and will never see the light of day for the iPhone.
