I think we should all be dealing with facts, not what supports our entrenched positions. The bending is indeed widespread in the LTE version, however it is not widespread in the WiFi version. All you have to do is take a look at the posters who have given their experience with both versions of the device, as well as take a quick glance at the poll in one of the other threads that breaks it down to: WiFi with bend, WiFi with no bend, LTE with bend, LTE without bend, and see for yourself. I think you are taking a risk if you buy an LTE version, but WiFi not so much.

I don’t know what to say. It just seems bizzarre. I’ve had 5 ipads before my 11” ipad pro. Three ipad minis & two regular ipads. I cracked the screen on 3 of them. Sometimes i don’t even know how. I just picked it up and there it was. Other times it was obvious, i dropped it face down. Boom. The point is...ipad screens have always been vulnerable unless protected. They get banged, they get bumped, and they can crack. Things happen. Iphone screens crack & shatter all the time, and they are small screens! True, they get dropped more...but ipads are basically a much larger sheet of glass.

Needless to say i am super careful now. Especially with this expensive ipad pro. All i know is that mine was straight right out of the box and is still straight. Not even worried about it bending. I got a case that protects the edges tho, and so far so good. No drops. No cracks. I am ultra careful with it. At the same time, i travel a lot and keep it in my backpack all the time. Besides the case, i put it in a padded sleeve when i travel.

I am with you. If I came home and found a new crack in my iPad, I would think about whether I bumped something without noticing when the cover was closed, and I just didn't notice it earlier. Then, I would talk to to the kids and wife and ask them if they knew anything about it. Finally, I would interrogate the dog.

The last thing on my list would be a spontaneous crack from temperature change inside an insulated home. I guess if you heat your house to over 100 F and then let it rapidly cool to below freezing by opening all doors and windows during the dead of winter in Minneapolis? Otherwise, it seems unlikely to me. Possible.....but unlikely.

Every single 11" LTE iPad Pro i've seen (about 12 now) has the bend at the breaks near the antenna lines, but only when viewed at a certain angle. I think it's pretty disappointing, but the bend is extremely minor. I have until February 1 to decide if I am going to return mine. Still not sure what to do...

Return it. Easy decision. If you aren’t happy with a product, any product, you should return it.

Yup, it's not a widespread issue and you can always return if you happen to buy one that is bent.

Yes, it is widespread enough that others here have experienced it.

True that you can return it, but why go thru that hassle when its clear that something is just not right with the product?

It's possible they might take a look at weak points and reinforce them as they did with the 6 plus (side buttons i believe) though any major structural changes will almost certainly not be forthcoming. I wonder if the next revision will use 7000 series aluminium like the iPhone? I take it it's more expensive than 6000 and that's why they're not already using it?

And that is most likely what apple will do, hence why I said that I will personally wait for the next model.

“This ipad pro is a very flawed device and its a shame that people are ignoring those flaws and buying them in droves.” - HE is the one totally dismissing and not considering the opinion of the vast majority of ipad pro buyers.

You insist in ignoring the fact that it has already been proven that the device casing is not sturdy, so in my eyes, it is a flaw, since these type of devices cant afford the luxury of having a weak enclosure or poor structural integrity.

So EXCUSE me for responding! Lol. Seriously. What he writes about is an opinion...not FACT. He infers(rather condecendingly i might add) that the ipad pros are all flawed, and it’s such a shame people are ignoring those flaws and buying it in droves.

If all IPP have the same weak case/enclosure, then yes, they are flawed.

A shame? Really? Because the vast majority of people are LOVING the new ipad pros.

The IPP internals are just amazing and no other device in the market can hold a candle to them, but those people will have a different type of love when those devices bend or the screen cracks, due to apple greedy decision in skimping on the materials.

He doesn’t even OWN one!!!

Because I dont let my blind love for a brand guide my buying decisions.

So I point this out, and I’m the one with the problem? Gimme a break.

You have taken this very personally, even though you were never addressed. You know who does that? corporation white knights, so I would say, yes, you do have a problem.

But like Freida said, it is useless at this point to continue this conversation with you, since you cannot accept that apple make mistakes.

So have a nice one.

Let it go dude. The vast MAJORITY of new ipad pros are NOT bent. It is NOT a flaw. It is an ANOMOLY. You just can’t accept that can you? You don’t even own one! Lol. Seriously. I Do. And it’s an LTE model, and NOT bent. Love this thing. My sister has an LTE model as well....NOT bent. And none of my artist friends here in NYC have bent ipad pros either. Nor any of the hundreds of artists i follow on youtube. They all love it. Time to get over it man. Either buy one and see for yourself...or just wait until 2020 for the next one.

And oh...by the way, if the new pro is flawed, wheres the class action lawsuit? Hmm? There is none, cause it’s not flawed. And i don’t think Apple is perfect. I have returned Apple devices in the past. But this new ipad pro is the best Apple device i’ve ever owned. Period.

Ya don’t know what you’re missing pal.

Cheers!

Well, I put off buying one until just this week because of all the talk about the bending, and just trying to decide if I really needed to go back to a pro device, or if I just wanted to stick with my 2018 iPad.

Ultimately I decided to take my chances. My iPad is my main “computer,” and I just really want to have the best user experience I can when I’m using it. I bought a 32gb 2018 just to hold me over til the new pros were released, so I really wanted a bit more storage, and just an overall nicer device since I use it for pretty much everything.

Anyway, it arrived today in perfect condition. I laid it face down flat on my table and it has no bending anywhere.

It’s a beautiful device, and I can’t wait until my case and screen protector arrive so I can actually play with it. I’m a scaredy cat about using mine uncovered - this one arrived sooner than expected so my accessories aren’t here yet.

Oh, and btw - mine is an 11” LTE

Thats my main issue with the current state of this device.

Why we the customers need to feel like this about a very expensive device that by design its expected to be on situations that will expose it to rough environments?

And if this is brand new, imagine 6 years down the road.

But i hope that yours last a long time without any major issues, as my ipad air 2 has.

I’m like this with all my devices - not just this one. I don’t want to scratch anything because it would bother me. I usually have a case and screen protector waiting, but my iPad came nearly a week before it was supposed to (one day after I ordered it), so my Amazon order hasn’t arrived.

A small percentage of users on this site does not make it a widespread issue. It’s worth taking that chance because there is nothing inherintely wrong with the product and many people have perfectly fine iPad Pro’s that they love. It’s a great product, easily my favorite iOS product.

This is the problem with a little hysteria on MR and other places. Most iPads are not bent. There's no ifs or buts about it. Most people here will get a new iPad and there will be no issues with it, ever. Glad you're enjoying yours!

Skip this generation and get the 2019 version.

It is exactly why I got the 2017 12.9 iPad Pro as the original iPad Pro had issues (which was fixed in the 2nd generation).

Personally, I will never buy an iPad Pro again as they dropped the headphone output. With Apple you pay more but you get less and lower quality every year.

Almost certainly not before November.
Oh, so if I follow the advise of waiting for new Pro models, I may have to wait until 2020. Poor advice then, I'll have to decide for one of the existing Pro models as I can not wait 10-16 months.

Still think it’s worth getting and if you think it’s bending or bent then return the device. It really is a fantastic device.

Yes, I'll most likely do that. They have a 60 days free return policy here, so shouldn't be a problem if any problem occurs or if I have regrets.
