In terms of syncing Android with iTunes and iphotos (photos app), what's the best app or tweak to use?

I used to have a Nexus 5 - by far and away a superior phone and OS to iPhone 6 and IOS - but the problems with syncing iTunes and iPhotos is what sent me back to an iPhone.

ISyncr on Android for iTunes

Just use the USB cable into your mac should bring photos into the photos app. Or store them in the cloud with Google Photos

I feel like while you sacrifice a little privacy, allows you to accomplish tasks in less steps in most cases due to the ability apps have to share things.
Could you (or someone else?) explain what this means? The sharing part. What does that mean, and how does it help you accomplish things in less steps?

Thanks.

Thanks.

Few examples:

In facebook there's a funny meme I want to send my football friends. On iPhone I have two options send the photo in the facebook messenger app, which I don't want to be forced to use. Or, long press and save the photo to camera roll, exit fbook app go to photos app or messaging app and share from there. Now, on android, I can just long hold the photo select share external and send it via SMS or other apps directly from right there within the facebook app.

In photos app I want to send a photo. I select the share button in either os from within the photos app with the photo up. On iPhone I must select the app I want to share to and then that app will open and I select a contact and share from there. On android when I hit share button I can type a name of a contact right there in the photos app and it will pop up all of the various email,SMS, etc addresses for that contact and I can choose how to send it and send it from right there in the photos app.

Finally, I find video clip of the cubs game on internet I want save. iPhone would have to have it loaded via iTunes requiring you to use computer. Android with a file manager I could download the clip right there on the phone and open my file manager and share the clip to any number of people/apps from right there on the phone.

These are just a few examples from odd the top of my head. Yes, all scenarios can be done on the iPhone but they are completed with a little more ease androids way.

Thanks MRU. I'll check it out. Does it also move albums on Photos app to the phone?

Sadly no - it's one way only. In order to transfer photos to the photos app there are two solutions.

1. if you have a Google Photos account, you can install the MAC desktop client and it will back up the photos on your mac to your Google Photos account, so when you open the Google Photos app, all your photos are available to you.

2. Alternatively use Android File Transfer and drag and drop the photos you want on your phone into an album on the internal or microSD storage. https://www.android.com/filetransfer/

Personally I ended up moving over a few years back to utilising Google Photos on all my devices, and then I have access to them on my Mac via photos.google.com and I download them if I want to store them offline on my mac. Having so many different phones and iOS and Android, I find using Google Photos the easiest way of keeping everything in one place regardless of whichever device they come from.

Thanks MRU. Do you use an Android also? If so, do you find that you get Thumbnails of the pictures you transfer into iPhoto or Apple's Photos app?

When I had my Nexus 5 that's what happened to me and was incredibly infuriating and time consuming!

I'll check for you now what happens with the pixel :) ....

OK so when you connect, change USB mode to PTP and it will open the images in Photos.

However yes, unfortunately it will also import the thumbnails as separate images.

:(

Also ... photos edited in Snapseed won't transfer via the regular import to Photos.

-----

The way I usually work is I use Google Photos to auto backup the image, and then when I want to put them on my mac, I visit photos.google.com and select the album of new photos or the ones I want and simply download them directly to my mac and throw them into the photos app manually. Downloading like this only downloads the full image not the thumbnail, but still not as easy as syncing an iOS device with Photos.

Thanks for trying this out for me MRU, appreciate the effort.

Such a shame that these tech behemoths can't just make certain key things compatible! Alas, it's all about the money I guess - it is a business after all!

I'll play around with my wife's Nexus 5X and see how I get on with the faffy way of transferring pics. If I can't get on with it, it'll have to be iOS for me.

So I've owned three android phones in my life. First the G1 which I kept for about two months, the OG Droid which I kept for three, then my first real smartphone purchase with a purpose the Galaxy Nexus. I had my Nexus for just under a year and I can honestly tell you there were many problems with that phone. I loved the look and feel of the OS but there were just too many nagging issues. The phone got much slower over time to the point that I had to delete stuff off my phone to keep it running decently. All of the customization I did (custom launchers, keyboards, icon packs) all would eventually bring the phone to a screeching halt so I stopped using them. And lastly widgets that I once enjoyed using became so unbelievably laggy that I had to stop using them all together. Not to mention horrible standby battery drain that meant I had to keep my phone plugged in at almost all times (I know doze is supposed to fix this). I've been intrigued by android phones but the pixel is the first one I've lusted after and have considered a switch. I, like others, have invested into the apple ecosystem which stops me. I still back up my phone to iTunes, have my reminders, passwords, and messages synced up between devices. When those services work it's magical and I still cannot figure out why google can't just rip off iMessage and create a unified messaging service across PC/Windows/Mac but I digress. Was my experience with the galaxy nexus the result of a ****** phone? Has android gotten alot better in overall stability over time?

(I know the iPhone could be faster and they purposely slow it down, it drives me nuts).
This is BS, the iPhone 7 runs circles around every Android phone. Just go on YouTube and watch a few speed tests.

He is referring to the scrolling speed in email, web browser, etc.

You didn't read the entire post or misread his comment.
