New Olympus camera kit is out for delivery.....

Sitting here anxiously waiting. Like a kid on Christmas morning ;)

My Em1 Mk II arrived yesterday and I got zero work done I was so busy fiddling with it, setting it up, making adjustments, etc. ( I work from home right now so the ease I can slack off work is kind of dangerous w/ a new toy around.)

I forgot how...involved the settings can be. lol. Anyway, this might help: https://unlockingolympus.com/resources/e-m1-mkii-settings-guide/

It's mostly for the EM1 but the menus should be similar w/ some of the feature specific ones obviously would be missing from yours.

My new Olympus EM5 MkII is here. I'm charging batteries and registering the camera and lens. I haven't even turned it on yet.

It's a LOT smaller than the Sony a77.

Lovely shots :)
Next lens - the Panasonic 35-100 f/2.8, and you're pretty much set for anything.
Try some of your wonderful sunsets, but use the Live Bulb long exposure feature.

Cheers :)

I haven't read the entire thread so pardon me if this has already been mentioned. I moved from a Nikon D800 to mirrorless. Ended up with Fuji. Why not m4/3? Because I do a lot of low light work without flash. If that's a part of your photography you need to make sure you're ok with the IQ m4/3 will deliver.

I prefer the size of m4/3, the lens selection and the IBIS in small bodies. But even with the 20mp sensor, you can't simply throw ISO at a low light situation without a penalty coming into play sooner than expected/desired.

Sorry if I'm repeating things but I've not read all the posts. Anyway, I originally had the Sony A77 and then Sony A77-II and ran the Olympus M4/3 system (EM10) alongside it as my lighter setup. Image quality was negligible between the two, and noise handling in the real world was remarkably similar. I then swapped my A77-II for the Nikon D750, went around the houses trying all sorts of smaller systems (EM5-II, Fuji XT1, Canon G7x, Sony RX100-III) and finally came back to Olympus with the EM1.

When viewing at normal screen size I sometimes struggle to see the difference in IQ between the D750 and EM1. At pixel level, and printing HUGE then the difference becomes more apparent, but you're comparing FF vs m4/3 so it's to be expected, and like I said you often have to scrutinise to see the difference. Obviously this will be lens and science dependant. In low light obviously the D750 excels, and of course there's the DOF thing.

The EM1 is my favourite camera I've used, there's just something about it that makes you want to shoot with it. I just wish it was FF (mainly for the shallow DOF) and had AF to match the best DSLRs.

I honestly don't think that you would be disappointed in the IQ swapping from the Sony to M4/3
