Hmm.. I have been wondering how people have such insanely good performance on 9.2, while my 5s heats like crazy, burns through battery, and drains on low-power mode worse than 9.1 with normal usage.

This must be the issue then. My phone would get ridiculously hot and just sprint through battery life.

Beta 2 is out now though!

About beta 2, who is able to download it? It's not popping up on my end, so it must only be available to registered developers.

Yep. The public beta will presumably be out tomorrow. Or you can delete the beta profile from your device, reboot, and check for an update again.

My battery has been horrific since the 9.2 update.

Normally I can get through the day till about 6pm with 70% left and since I updated it's only 12:38pm and it's down to 66%....

Do you have an Apple Watch paired to it?

For some reason, removing the Public Beta profile then going to Settings > General > Software Update (after a reboot, of course) gives me an Unable to Check for Software Update error.

Re-adding the Public Beta profile, though, gives me an iOS 9.2 is up-to-date screen.

Odd. I read some posts that said the process still worked with beta 2.

You need to reboot the phone before checking for updates again.

I have an Apple Watch, with 9.2, the battery life was horrendous. Normally I can get two days out of my 5s on 9.1 (recently got a new battery put in), so I don't bother checking my actual usage times. However, with 9.2, I hit sub-20% before 24 hrs, and the usage time was only about 2 hrs, ~20 min. Really disappointing, but at least 9.1 doesn't seem too laggy on my 5s with a restore from backup.

OMG... 9.2 Beta 2 is killing my battery. I've lost 25% in a span of 1h20min.

9.2 Beta 2 has killed the battery life on my 6s. Dropped from 55% at 23:30, to powered off by 07:00 just sat idle on nightstand. Can't get through a day on a single charge. Seems strange that others are reporting dramatic improvements.

Unfortunately I am seeing a slightly degraded battery life in beta 2 over the beta 1 enhancements, 6S Plus 128GB. But this may be my usage! But still I am getting home and at about 10 PM I see 25% so I am not complaining!

After killing the battery for a couple of days after installing beta 2, I am now getting much better battery life. Must've been unrelated but seems very coincidental

What iOS version did you have prior to 9.2 beta? Could've been that beta 2 was still settling in for a while. Now that it's settled, that's probably why you're seeing the improved battery performance.

What the s*** is up with The Weather Channel app? I deleted it after noticing it uses background activity even with background app refresh off. (Yes, CDM I read your posts about how the background app refresh works :p )

They should fix that... I can't imagine that there is any reason for the app to refresh data after I close it (not swipe up, just home-button minimize). It's like they have to make sure that their ungodly amount of ads have to be rip-roaring to go once you fire the app up next time.

And their UI is terrible... I can't find anything quickly except for current weather and what people are reporting. Whoopee. Five ads down (yes, hyperbole) I can find the five day forecast. Hooray! Keeping Weather Channel in business!

How much background time was showing up? Basically any app is allowed a few minutes (up to about 10) after user under normal circumstances to finish up some things or just run a bit in the background if it's retrieving updates or something like that.

It was anything crazy long [like how Facebook was(is?)]. It's just annoying because most of the 3rd party apps I run don't ever have background activity after I close them (games, weather).

Although I just noticed Pac-Man 256 had background tasks I would delete that if it wasn't so fun.

I guess it's not a big deal if Weather Channel wants to have a little background activity...

eh.
