Most iPhone owners I know go with the iPhone because it has lots of apps, unlimited data, many things to do and play with. If you only use a phone when needed, there are cheaper phones and plans.
Isn't ANYTHING only used when needed? Do you spend 100% of your time staring at your iPhone screen using data?

Truth be known, yes. It is never needed, everyone of us can survive without it. I use mine to do plenty of things just playing around.

Exactly. I'm a man and I have a white iPhone and love it. 100% straight too.
Same here. It's a pity that the iPhone is no longer a symbol of an "elitist" society...looks like I'll have to hack the iPad and configure it to use that as my next cell
There are a LOT of people at my work that have iPhones. They are definitely popular. I know some of them are proud of their 3GS's but I will trump them with the new one coming this year . Horray for upgrade eligibility!

They can still buy the new one. A lot of people sell their iPhones when the new one comes out so that they can afford the new one even if they don't have upgrade eligibility.
yep. you end up extending your contract and paying probably anywhere from nothing to $100-200 for the new phone, but it's what I did for 2 years

It's pretty sad that people in this world value themselves based on what they own / what people think about them
It's usually those that have very little/ have very little self esteem that think this way
Why the hell would I use my phone when I DIDN'T need it? I mean, you may get something out of being only your phone 24/7, I just see it as a useful phone/device; I'm not married to it.
I sold my original iPhone and got a Nokia 5800 instead, because the speakers were so poor on the original iPhone. I'm going to get an iPhone 4G (or whatever it is) though
