You can't side load a hosts blocker file to block ads in apps. Ad blocking is my number reason for jailbreaking today and rooting my Android devices.
I don't have many apps that have ads that I use constantly (maybe speedtest) you can always pay the no ads add on as well though :)

I have the ad free versions of any apps that have that option. I still use a lot of apps that are free but never gave the option to go ad free.

Speed Intensifier is also my number one missed tweak. I don't think I'll ever get used to the stock speed again.

NightMode is also a big one I miss. iOS looks so much better with a darker profile.

Seems like jb scene is a sunset industry
Hardly!

Just because one has not been released for the latest version of iOS you cannot discount the thousands of people out there on older jailbreaks.

You also have no idea what the JB devs are doing behind the scenes. Just because a new JB is "late" according to your schedule doesn't mean they don't have one.

I'm still back in iOS 8.4. I missed the jailbreak for 9 because I didn't want to lose a few tweaks. One of them might not ever get updated. But I do see, in Cydia, new tweaks being created every week.

Seems like the window of opportunity to upgrade to iOS 9 and jailbreak was very short (less than two weeks?).

Yeah, they had to drop it quck because 9.1 was being readied for release and it patched the holes they had in 9.0-9.0.2.

I'm Jailbroken on iOS 8.4 on my iP6 and couldn't be happier. My replaced 6s is on iOS 9.2.1 and sitting in its box in a drawer. I'm even thinking of selling it now and just sticking with my as new iP6 until I get my iP7 but the only thing that is stopping me it that the 6s is black and I prefer it to the white front on my 6 but I still wouldn't use it until I can Jailbreak it.

I have pre ordered an S7 edge out of interest although it will have to be great to get me back to android.

I'm kind of focusing more on my Android devices for now since there is nothing stopping me from using all of them rooted and customizing them in any way that I want.

I still have a 6+, 5S and an iPad Mini jailbroken and I am waiting to rejailbreak my my 6S+ and jailbreak my 6S. I jailbreak mainly to block ads in apps. Lately, one of the local news apps I use has been getting carried away with the ads, even forcing a popup ad that forces the user to close the app and reopen it to get rid of the ad. I have actually deleted that same app from my Android devices because Adaway can't seem to remove the sponsored ad blocks that that app is using although they don't appear on jailbroken iOS devices. Hopefully we get a JB before summer.

the wait is excruciating !!!!
It's a lot less excruciating for me waiting with a stock 64GB IPhone 6s (with Night Shift) than when I had a jail broken 16GB iPhone 4 with a smashed screen waiting for the iPhone 5 jailbreak. ;-)

Although I am j/b on my 6s 9.02 - I keep hoping I will see that tweet - Jailbreak out.
I plan to wait it out - unless it is confirmed 9.3 cant be j/b then I am going stock.

Is there any Cydia tweak that will notify you when a new jailbreak is out?

I'm thinking of possibly trading in my Note 5 for a iPhone 6S Plus, but only once there's a JB available, which I assume will be after 9.3 is officially released.

I was mainly jailbreaking to block ads in apps and anywhere else on my iPhone/iPad.

I did some searching and found an app in the app store called Weblock that blocks ads systemwide on these devices while on WiFi. It's $1.99 and actually works. You tell it what you would like to block in the settings and then it gives you a URL that you paste into your WiFi connection settings.

Works very well and it will get me through till there is a JB out and I can then block ads with WiFi off.
