iPod This is why I sold my new iPod touch today

A week ago I bought a brand new 32G iPod touch (pretty expensive for MP3 player) but anyway, I was so excited that I have one because I am an old iPod owner with 5 iPod's in my drawer.
About a couple of days ago I realized that's what I had actually bought is a doomed device with no future and even very limited use. You know guys iPod's are history no one is using them except the loyal old owners and some athletes. Everybody now is using iPhone/Smartphone or Tablet. The days of MP3 players is officially gone now and Tim Cook said that about 9 months ago he said: iPod's are declining business.
So negative thoughts was all over me that I bought the wrong device and I really should start to move forward and stop being a freak about old Apple products.
The iPod was revolutionary It was my companion since 2004 but I think the iPod touch that I sold today is the last one for me.:apple:

Within 2 weeks you could have just got a return and maybe had the restock fee waivered. Ah, some still hold out (John Siracusa springs to mind!)

Am not from US so a return is not an option :( I lost more than half the price :(
 
I'd imagine any apple store would take it back if with receipt.
Unfortunately value dropping is one of those things. From driving a car away from the dealership after buying a new one, to opening an unopened product and making the transition from new to used.
Like the Mac mini, we await to see what happens with the Touch - it's been thinner than the iPhone consistently - I'd hope they keep it around

No its from other retailer.
I think Apple is dropping the whole line by the end of 2015. They will keep some models probably Nano or shuffle and then they will say good night iPod. they cant keep developing a device with 2% of their revenue. And with wearable tech who knows what they planning to replace it?:confused:

"Everybody"??? Wrong.

I'm not "everybody," but I am a somebody who has an iPad - as well as an iPod Touch 5G. Both get heavy use and I wouldn't part with either.
 
I love my iPod Touch 5th gen. That's because when I bought it, I knew exactly what it could do, and what its limitations were. I did my research. Seems like the OP failed to do adequate research before purchasing a product.

I love my current ipod touch as well, the whole "everyone just uses an iphone, no point for ipod touch to exist" argument is so silly. I use iphone on the go, and ipod in the house. this way it's easy to keep them both charged, and i don't have to use the fat brick that is the iphone around the house.

And not only that…. but you (and others like myself) could fully utilize our iPod as our MAIN repository of iTunes/MP3 music files, rather than shoving all those Gigabytes of music and cramming it all in the iPhone's precious limited space.

That way… we free up our iPhone's storage space for…. you know… these important things called 'apps'. :cool:
 
My clip on Nano is a wonder device for running, yard work, house cleaning. Etc

Just had battery replaced at an Apple store last month.

Apple would be wise to bring back the clip on Nano.
 
I love my iPod touch.
It's more than just an 'MP3' player, it can do much more.

I enjoy having it, even if the iPod is a declining business.

I do keep audiobooks, music and podcasts mostly on my ipod, and even bring it with me on the go sometimes because I don't feel like burning data for icloud to listen to the same things easily my phone.

Once I got an ipad mini, I stopped using most apps on my phone. On the go, reference, and camera stuff is all i really use on the phone, games and other apps on the ipad. I think of my phone as more of a camera with a certain size memory stick than something to fill up with apps or music or movies. even 5.5 inch mega phone sucks compared to the ipad mini screen wise.

Same.
I use my iPad mini for basically everything, I use only 1GB on my phone and 23GB on my iPad.
 
although sometimes following a trend can be logical (if everyone has selected product A then maybe there is something wrong with product B), when it comes to technology and proper research you really shouldn't buy products ONLY based on what others are buying. the iPod touch is still a great product, it has a slower CPU than the iPhone but this is reflected in the price. It defiantly feels nicer to hold than the iPhone - thinner and lighter! only thing you don't get is an always-on data connection, but with iTunes match you can download whole playlists onto the device before leaving the house etc...

We will probably see iPod updates tomorrow or next month and NFC in an iPod touch could really capture a market of people who don't want an iPhone but wouldn't mind leaving their wallet at home!

Also with continuity in iOS 8, you could have a cheap iPhone left at home on the charger and pick up phone calls and messages on a touch when connected to WiFi. Use the contacts app to get someones number in emergency and use a pay phone ! :)
 
An iPod touch is not an iPod and it's not an MP3 player. It's a phone-less iPhone. Not everyone wants/can afford the insane monthly fees asked by the carriers.
 
Lol isn't the iPod still a $77 million dollar business for Apple? It's hardly dead and it still has a place. I love all my iPods and will continue buying them.
 
This thread is silly.

TONS of people still use iPod Touches. Why? Kids.

The kids want the apps, the kids want the games, the parents don't want their kid to have a smart phone so guess what, they get them an iPod Touch.

Obviously kids aren't the only ones that use them. I have an iPod Nano and use it all the time for working out. Friends of mine have iPod Touches simply because they don't want all their music hogging their phone space. There are many uses for them.

Exactly!

Plus, I'm on my phone all day at work. When I just want to listen to music or work out, I don't want to be on my phone! :)
