Your best bet is iPhone XR or Pixel 3 (not XL)
They are slightly bigger

Slightly bigger?

My iPhone SE hits the 2-year mark on March 29th and I'll probably pay for a new battery between now and the end of the year to give it another year or two. The screen's pretty beat up (the usual scuffs, no deep scratches) and I'd love to replace it wholesale though, but with nothing comparable I'll sit on my hands for a bit longer.

Whenever the time comes that I'm more or less required to replace it I'll likely just get whatever my smallest option is at the time and move over to use my Apple Watch for most things, leaving my phone itself home most of the time.

There’s not a damn thing you can do. Apple gonna do what Apple gonna do. I want them to update my beloved iPad mini. Does Apple care what I want? Nope. Lol.

What's your secret? How did you will a new iPad Mini into existence?

Th

They started selling them again but they will kill them off after they have no more stock.

They are slightly bigger but fit in the pocket nicely and aren't huge I use a pixel 3 and it works fine but if you want to stick with iPhone then get an XR.

Yes, I waited and kept checking and was able to snap a 128G space gray SE just a week or so ago, plus $150 discount as a clearance item!

Replaced my 64G SE which was memory limited. Keeping the 64G tho, as a backup, just in case. Love that i didn’t have to deal with verizon, just transferred my SIM card. I love this phone and hope Apple listens and in the future makes another small phone. It’s all I want.

The 8 is still substantially smaller than either of those phones, cheaper, and is a decent upgrade from the SE. That is probably where I'd be steering anyone who really wanted to upgrade at this point in time.

just gotta evolve and adapt with the rest of the world. It sucks for some people but in the end there are worse things in the world to worry about.
Thats a stupid comment.

Overwhelming amount of people? So these imaginary people don’t use IPads, laptops, or desktops? While working, you know a real job, I have to use a laptop or desktop. I couldn’t do my job on a phone. At home I use an IPad primarily and have a quad core Mac mini for important things. The phone is a telephone, for communications, I certainly don’t live my life on it.

What I see is an addiction problem. The addicts want a bigger phone every year because they are on it all day long. Heavy social media users, etc. Most of the SE fans use that device as a portable phone, with portability being high on the list. They do not want to carry a phablet around with them, and let’s be honest the current set of iPhones are mostly phablets. I’m still using a 7, and the minute I started carrying it daily, I missed my 6 which iirc is SE sized.

It is addiction as I said above. I use my phone for calls, text, email, iPod primarily. A few times a day I check the web at work on safari, and maybe check some home automation media apps, and maybe use the calculator. Occasionally I will take a photo. It’s what I use for quick checks on whatever, quick stuff. I don’t do selfies or social media apps as I’m not a narcissist. It’s a younger generation driving the market and these phablet phones, people who are addicted to the phone. I see it everyday with people driving while surfing their phone, swerving, driving slow, stopped with a green light in front of them, at the movie theater that person who just can’t go 90 or 120 minutes without leaving the damn thing off. At the gym, where you are supposed to exercise, nope they’d rather hog a machine or bench watching videos. I even see people playing video games at the gym. It’s an epidemic.

But maybe it’s just a generation thing. If I want to watch a film, I’m not watching it on my phone, ever. I want a big screen. I don’t play video games any longer and haven’t since I was a kid as I have a mortgage, bills, etc. But if I did, I want a large(r) screen. Then there is size. I use a case and/or holster. Even if putting in a pocket these phones are large, heavy. Steve Jobs had a great point about size. Maybe next year they’ll release an IPad mini sized IPhone 11, and the smallest size will be the max. There will be a whole new market for case designers who design Chewbacca shoulder straps for people with their iPhone extra max. Perhaps a fold em up keyboard and mouse.

World gone mad ;)
[doublepost=1553606103][/doublepost]I don't understand why it is such a bad thing to be constantly on a smartphone. It's a small TV, a book reader, camera, navigation device and much more. And its small enough to put in your pocket. It helps people stay in touch with family and friends, gives us driving directions, keeps us informed about our community and the world. What the hell is so wrong with that. Would you prefer that we sit on the couch all day and stare at TV like previous generations? Lighten up all you iphone haters. I for one do not ever desire or fantasize about going back to the bad old days without smart phones.

I started to use a 5c as a backup phone a few months ago. I use it when I'm out - for security reasons, don't want to lose my 6s on iOS 9 - and I have found that's really comfortable to use and carry. Yes, it has 8GB and it isn't that fast (it's running iOS 9; yet, surprisingly, it is decently snappy, but not blazing fast like my 6s).
But I would really love an SE as my use-while-out phone. If the SE is as fast as my 6s - which it should - then there will be no issues at all.
Not quite happy about Apple's form factor change.
I'm the same. I have several iphones and when I go shopping, I put the SIM in my SE. Driving I use my Max for a bigger map reader. Sometimes I change two or 3 times a day, depending on my mood. My fav tho is my XS. A little heavy but that 'cause it's got an awesome all-day battery. But the SE feels great in the hand and the pocket.

uh not really.
You will be that old grandpa holding onto his relic of a phone because you dont adapt with technology and go with how things are evolving. So not really.
You still have a VCR dont you?
Im glad I got rid of my pager in the 90's but iPhones dont compare to text messages with a pager...

I haven’t bothered to read all 15 pages, but as an SE diehard with 2 extra NIB units ready to go if something happens to my SE, I don’t think we will ever see a 4” phone again. But that doesn’t matter....it’s the case size that matters to me. So, if Apple ever makes a new small phone, it can have up to a 4.7” display and still fit in a case close to the size of the current SE. That’s what I’m hoping for.....that and squared-off edges just like the SE. :D

Man, a VCR is a bad example because there's a large number of films that have never been released on DVD, Blu-Ray, or any newer format and are only available on VHS.

Sure if used mainly for these things. You don't see a problem withe younger generation staring at their phones like zombies for 12-16 hours a day, mindlessly scrolling through social media feeds and cat videos? There is definitely an addiction problem for some people....probably a lot of them when one's whole life is ingested via a 6 inch screen and emojis while hey lack any real-life communication skills or knowledge of what's actually happening in the real world. It's sad.

Interesting to note, despite claims of unwavering demand for the iPhone SE, the product still remains in stock in the Clearance store. This is well after a month of it being restocked in mid-February.

Looking at the inventory numbers, Apple has over 1,000 units of the 128GB SE available and even more 32GB units are available.

I would imagine the majority of individuals that want a new iPhone SE model are current SE owners--why would they buy a phone they already own?

You do realize that they had ‘five’ mini iPhone SE launches? And I don’t ask that sarcastically, I mean they sold out of four specific launches with SE units (3/5 of the SE launches were sold out under ten minutes of ‘Going live’), and the fifth being in stock with the highest number being 128 GB. Also, keep in mind, the 128 GB is probably the least popular, just because it’s more expensive over the base model.

Post #361 is a good example. Also, out of warranty cost for SE is $269. Given that a new unit sells for $249, buying a new unit is cheaper than a refurb replacement for $269.

I've been tracking the availability of the SE and each of those previous batches in Jan-Feb had a few hundred units at most, which is likely why they sold out quickly. This latest batch had a few thousand at most and you can track the daily quantity simply by adding 999 units to your cart. Given the size of the U.S. market and the limited retailers where you can buy an unlocked, contract-free SE, it certainly doesn't feel like the SE is popular beyond diehard consumers.

Blu-Ray & HD-DVD players play DVDs though...no reason to keep a DVD player around when the new hardware plays the old discs. Still a bad example. :p

The se does all the same stuff a new phone does too. But still no reason to keep it around Unless you prefer small phones. The xs isn’t much bigger.

I switched from Android to Apple despite my misgivings at that time - specifically because a small but no compromise phone (SE) was released;
Since then I have not looked back and love all things apple.
While I have now reluctantly gotten used to Xs, I would buy a smaller phone with latest chip+water proofing, in a heart beat.
I don't use my phone for content consumption at all (I have ipads for that)
I wish apple will do a refresh of SE/release an improved version - just like they revived the iPad mini...

Having said that, my only major complaint now is how heavy Xs feels in my hands. I've gotten used to the rest of(host of!) inconveniences..

I suspect Apple realizes that the SE was never really intended for media consumption either, it was intended for an affordable price point With a 4 inch form factor. In general, I think that the SE just wasn’t generating enough revenue for Apple to keep manufacturing something that consumers generally are favoring larger phones moving forward.

Realistically, I don’t see the current SE being revived again, not when Apple had three years of keeping it in their lineup and then ultimately stopped selling it fall 2018. Why? Because in the end, it’s _all_ about the money, and I don’t think the SE really ever generated enough for Apple to continue to manufacture a device with sales that were likely on the decline for that particular phone.
