As others said, depends on the size of your hands.

My hands are neither small nor large - yet I prefer the larger size of the Plus and Max phones.

It’s a phablet. It’s a big phone. Unless you have big hands, it’s hard to do everyday task with one hand. It’s for two hands. It’s not a handy type phone that fits in a pocket perfectly. Once again it’s a phablet.

Aside from the fact that I have used two hands with every phone I have owned since I started in 1999 (one to hold the phone, the other to control it), why is this a problem?

You people who one hand your phones…SMH. I've never been able to wrap my head around handling a ~$1000+ phone in such a carefree manner. As I have stated many times before on MacRumors, I (me, myself) am not explaining to my wife how I dropped ANY size phone because I was trying to be slick and one handing it.

As for pockets…I have several pairs of jeans and Dickies Carpenter pants and shorts that say differently.

I’m planning to get a new iPhone this September and leaning towards a Pro Max, although have some concerns around the size. Those who own or used to own one, did you find it OK for daily use? Was it too big?

I’ll be upgrading from iPhone X.

I love the size of my i14PM, though I can understand some may prefer something smaller. The i14PM is definitely a 2 handed bit of gear; I have big hands and still cannot confidently navigate and send messages one handed, the drop risk is too high. If you can accept that then you're good. It does fit into jeans and shorts pockets, sometimes with a bit of assistance, but not into a shirt pocket.

I can't speak for everybody, but for me it's the very reason you state: I value not damaging my stuff.

6.7 inches is a large phone, make no mistakes about it. But if you have large hands you can manoeuvre your phone reasonably easily. My only issue these days is I have shallow pockets and many times the phone creeped out of the pocket and I could have easily drop it. Many a times the phone have slid out of my pocket during car rides.

So this year I might go back to the regular Pro size.

That's understandable. I suppose the fact that my career has been in an office and now from home, this isn't something I'd considered. However, I suspect a lot of 'one-handers' are those who simply wish to text with one hand while leaving their other hand free for something else.

I'm just not in those sorts of situations at all and nothing I do is so important (barring emergencies) that I can't wait to respond.

The best thing you can do is go into an Apple Store or any store that have the Pro and Pro Max phones, and test the size of them out. I have some hands and have always used the Plus and Pro Max phones since the 6+ and XS Max. I did use the X for 18 months, and it was the worst 18 months of owning an iPhone. I used thick and bulky cases to make the X appear bigger and wider. Now with having the 14PM, I don’t see myself reverting back to a smaller phone.

I have 0 issues carrying my 14PM. I rarely carry a purse and wear stretch jeans and haven’t had a problem with my phone falling out of my pocket or any of my work shirts that have a front pocket. I also use a thin case on my phone. The size also doesn’t bother me as I am used to the size. To be honest feeling the weight of the phone in my pocket, let me know where it is. I also have no issues using my phone with two hands or one hand to send a quick text, or to view something. Overall I’m happy with the Pro Max size and weight and hope that the rumor of the Pro Max going up to 6.9 from 6.7 is true. At times my 14PM feel too small for me.

Went from a standard 6s to an 8+ and now have an 11PM. I won't get a smaller phone. There's no benefit to me in having a smaller screen that's harder to read as I get older and the larger phones have more battery and all the possible features.

I don't have large hands and don't have any issue and my 11PM fits in my pockets just fine. With a DBrand Grip case on it.

The size is the reason I will be going to the iPhone Pro 15 not the Pro Max. Nice screen on the 13 Pro Max I have now but I find the phone just too large physically. But just my thoughts. Others may find it fine....

For me, the Pro Max feels lighter than the Pro because it is a two-handed phone and really should be used as such. The Pro is kind of too heavy for one-handed use, but too small for me to bother using both hands. Not a goldilocks-zone. That said, I prefer the mini because it is the perfect weight and size for one hand. I am strongly debating going to a regular 15 if they do the 48MP camera as rumored, but I think I am done with Pros unless the titanium brings it back to around 6 oz. (which it probably won't).

As long as you get a slick case. The Apple silicon case makes putting it in and taking it out of a pocket a nightmare. I don't use their cases anymore for that reason.

Ditto for that. Also they start chipping away on the corners before the year is even up. I won’t be buying them for the 15PM. Not even the off brand ones floating through AliExpress.

Yeah. I almost cracked my screen when I dropped my phone. The corner of the case ripped right off. For how much their cases cost, that's unacceptable. I've never had that happen with my Spigen case.

Yes their cases are too expensive for that to happen. I have been happy with Caudabe Synthesis, Sheath, Lucid Clear and Phone Rebels clear case. I’m only sticking with 2 cases for the 15PM.

I love my 13 Pro Max, it works perfectly for me through everyday life. I go caseless, so that reduces the footprint a bit from the chonks other people carry around and makes it very easy to slip in and out of a pocket no problem.

The only thing that becomes difficult for me is intense exercise such as running. I don't like ANY phone in my pocket while exercising, no matter the size. Nor do I like wearing a phone armband. Thus why I'm planning to upgrade my Apple Watch to a cellular model and ditch the phone entirely for exercise.

Aside from that one thing, the Pro Max size is never a bother.

I’ve had max and now pro. No doubt pro is soooo much more comfortable to hold, carry in pockets etc! That being said I wish the pro screen was a little larger. So maybe thinking plus or max. Depends. I hate carrying the max tho 😂

I relly do not think it has much to do with how big your hand are, but more how comfortable it works for you. I know tons of small petite women who have the max and love it and then me, 6-4" and feel the max feels huge.. its more of the discomfort. I do feel WAY more productive on the max tho..

Petite or not it boils down to the habits: Pro max is a double-handed sword no matter what, it is just some of us can't have both hands locked in all the time when we interact with a phone. For example on anything except PM and Plus I can navigate my web browsing with 1 hand while typing everywhere is better with 2. But with PM and Plus, you have to always have 2nd hand even for browsing.

I had several iPhone Pro Max models... (how many have there been?) I’ve definitely had two… but my last two phones have been the regular Pro once there was no difference in the camera between models. The Max just became too big once the novelty had worn off, it was cumbersome, didn’t sit well in my pockets, was noticeably heavy, especially with a decent case on it and unless you have hands like Jordan then you’ll need two hands to use it… I ‘down graded’ to the regular iphone pro and have never looked back, I do not see any reason to go to the pro max… unless apple give it certain appealing features to give it a unique selling point…

I am a simple finance guy - will go with the Pro max just because it retains better value for future resell/trade-in. I mostly value the least amount of resources spent to get the needed effect and pro maxes are the cheapest way to own an iphone quite controversially nowadays.
Will venture out and see how 2 handed use sticks with me - maybe larger screen, 13-14 hr battery will sway me away. I am now in a mini van and extra screen estate is very welcomed when it comes to maps navigation - my windshield is so much further away from my eyes versus my old regular sedan car.

Do not overthink. I have small hands and had the 3GS-5-6-8P-13PM. In the end, you even do not need the side leaning keyboards. Think of it as the iPad Micro and instantly you do not worry about size.

I have used iPhone 6s plus, 8plus, 11 and now 14PM. Really like the size. I also use an SE3 for work and it feels cramped. YMMV.
Daily use is just a matter of adapting. I don't like to put it in jeans back pockets, unless I know I won't sit down anytime soon. I usually take the phone out of my pocket (any pocket) when I sit down at a table or chair.
It's a small inconvenience to be able to use a large screen. Right after I had my first big screen, the 6s plus, I was hooked.
