I came from the Galaxy S8. iOS is more polished in every way. For eg., the share button is sluggish to respond on my Android device. I’m enjoying all the haptics, the flow of iOS. I set up various automation tasks without needing to read any guide. That’s good design. The camera is a lot better than what I had.
The trade off in screen size and resolution is noticeable when I visit sites with small, detailed graphs, like this NYTimes article:
I am fine with that. For me, the convenience of a smaller, more reachable phone is worth the trade off. It’s healthier to move to an iPad or PC when looking at graphs, rather than looking on the S8 just because I technically could. Now, I have a specialized, more portable phone. It’s not a jack of all trades, master of none like the S8. More than that, I really like iOS. I chose Android 10 years ago, but iOS has surpassed it now. I’ve been thinking about switching for a while, but I want small, and the Pro costs way too much. Plus, I don’t exactly love notches or cutouts.

Your red SE looks like such a dark red in this picture. The other pics I've seen have it looking like a brighter, less deep red. I'm guessing it's your lighting, but it looks awesome!

Low Power mode comment:

my iPhone stays on ‘low power mode’ all the time. It does dim the display slightly, affect CPU performance that’s probably negligible for others to notice, but otherwise, it probably does have some battery preservation, although I don’t really think it’s that significant. But I always leave it enabled 24/7.
Nothing on Low Power Mode is noticeable for me except the 30s lock forced. If only you could customize that I would probably just leave it on all the time too.

I expect it's the lighting. Mine's a pretty bright candy apple red. Would've preferred a darker shade of red, myself.

Yeah the Product Red iPhone SE is more of a brighter red, like cherry red.

The iPhone 8 Product Red was a darker more pleasing shade of red.

I currently have an old SE, a recent 8, and an 11Pro. I figured I'd just sell the old SE because, while cool, it's relatively useless for me and I don't need 3 phones lying around collecting dust. Then I see that they're getting $75 at best on ebay so there's no point, it still shows 100% battery! Now I'm thinking dump the 11 while it still has some value, and use the 8 pretending it's a new SE, to test the form factor. I just restored to the 8 so we'll see how that goes, won't dump the 11 unless I'm sure.

FWIW after a few months with the 11, I'm still on the fence. It was my 4th attempt at liking it (returned the first 3!) It has good battery and cams but I really don't like the thickness & weight. It may be close to the 8 in dimensions but way bigger in terms of one-handed use. I like(d) FaceID but that's become a recent pain with masks and plexi barriers in stores etc (I use Pay a ton), so will go back to the 8 for awhile and see if there's a future for that form factor.

If you didn't think that way when you got the 8+ it won't satisfy now, not only the camera but the battery too.

Battery runtime has never really been an issue for me (even back in 3gs and 4 days). I definitely bought the 8+ for the camera and have taken some seriously awesome (and at times spontaneous) photos with it.

I’ve had my SE2 for a week now and I absolutely love it. I switched from an iPhone XS. The battery is a big noticeable improvement, the camera is a nice upgrade too. It’s so small and light! I love having Touch ID again, especially when shopping. I love having a 16:9 screen without cropped corners or a notch. I bought an Apple leather “Sea Blue” case for an iPhone 7, $15 from Walmart, fits it great.

So tempted to pick one up.

But can't decide between red or white, both look so good.

For someone who goes case-less, my colour choice is always something that I need to think about.

I've got all 3. White is the nicest looking.

The red on the SE is just too bright. Would prefer a darker shade like with the iPhone 8. Oh well, it's for a good cause.

Haha why do you have all 3?
256GB Red: AT&T, mine, personal (upgrading from iPhone 7 256GB)

256GB Black: Verizon, mine, work (upgrading from iPhone 7 256GB)

128GB White: AT&T, mom's (upgrading from 4" iPhone SE 64GB)

With the Walmart discount, the total for all 3 is less than an iPhone 11 Pro 64GB.

It just occurred to me, you could get:

3x iPhone SE 64GB ($199 x 3 = $597) for the same price as 1x iPhone XR 64GB

3x iPhone SE 128GB ($249 x 3 = $747) for the same price as 1x iPhone 11 128GB

3x iPhone SE 256GB ($349 x 3 = $1047) for less than the cost of 1x iPhone 11 Pro 256GB

That's pretty great for families who need to upgrade multiple lines.

I have an 11 Pro and bought an SE for my son at launch. I used his for a day and while it is an awesome phone I couldn’t get from the OLED screen to the screen quality on the SE. Am I the only one with that issue? Touch ID was nice though

I have yet to swap my SIM card into the new SE that I bought when it came out. I am just not sure if I want to give up my 11 Pro for it.

I’ve been considering going smaller, but from an 11 Pro Max to an 11 Pro. The bezels of the SE are tough for me to accept. My wife’s uses an S20 and using her phone really makes me like the smaller form factor (I dislike the actual phone though).

I went from 11 pro max to XS. It’s slimmer and lighter than 11 pro. I’m liking it and got a good deal from Tmo. Battery not as good which is to be expected. But it’s manageable. That’s the trade off.

In your position, the bezels are non-issue, but you’re essentially downgrading your display from OLED to LCD, and then you’re reverting from having a larger battery to a smaller battery. Those really would be your two main considerations, as you probably would adjust to having bezels again, but can you accept the fact that you have a smaller display with a smaller battery capacity.

Don’t the 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max both use OLED? The smaller battery in the 11 Pro is fine, the smaller screen would also be fine for me at this point. I’ve gone for huge screens and find the smaller screen a bit if a relief. I don’t do a ton of video consumption on my phone and I do t really do social media at all.

Not quite Apple but small phones.

Lol, when he mentioned juggling groceries, I was thinking "Duh!"

I was also buying groceries when I realized I needed to try downsizing from a 5.5" iPhone 6+ to the 4.7" iPhone 6. The 4.7" is not as comfy as 3.5-4" but far more workable compared to 5.5".
