I’ve owned a 7 and an 8 Plus. Moved to the X last year.

I’ll echo what others have said. The X is restrictive in landscape. It’s also hard to thumb type accurately with it once you’ve become used to the Plus’s bigger keyboard. I’m flipping to the Xs Max exactly because the X is just a bit too small in width.

Affordability aside, it's really about rational pricing to me and what I'm willing to support. I guess I was really hoping for the rumor of a Xs priced at $899, and Xs Max at $999 to be true.

I might keep the 8 Plus (would be first time in awhile I didn't upgrade each year) to see what comes out next year. I think I would be unhappy with the narrower screen of Xs, and the price point of the Xs Max just doesn't sit well with me. Even if it's only $100 more to start.

Smart choice. You definitely won't like the screen size going from the 8+ to the XS. I went from the 8+ to the X last year, then after a few months switched back. I didn't think the narrower screen would be a big deal to me, but it was.

My advice is to go for the Max. The X has felt small to me from the get-go. And while I love the features and the feel of it, I've been wanting a Plus size X for a year.

I feel like it's worth the additional $100 to get the form factor you prefer.

I currently have the 8 Plus, as I was hesitant to make the jump to Face ID last year with the iPhone X. I feel I'm ready now that the XS is here ("2nd gen FaceID", etc).

However I was at the apple store last night comparing my 8 Plus to the X and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I get there is "more" screen (5.8" vs 5.5" diagonal) due to fewer bezels but the width is ever so slightly more narrow.

I want the XS because the XS Max is unfortunately just too expensive IMO. Did you feel you were downgrading in terms of screen size when you want Plus size to X? Are you happy with your experience or not?

What about battery life with X the vs Plus?

Thanks!

I did this and to be honest, in the beginning I was disappointed and almost brought mine back. But shortly I got used to it. Now I like it a lot.

But I did just order a Max because I wanted even bigger screen. It doesn’t hurt that I am 6’6” and 270lbs and my hands are naturally big. But otherwise you will like the Xs an my opinion with a little getting used to it.

Ahh I see what you mean now, still that'll look crappy tho and only 720P.

LOL you Really dont like to read.

It's not 720p. Its 828p. More importantly, its 326PPI, more than any iPad and way more than my macbook pro.

It'll look fantastic. At this screen size, even 326PPI is overkill.

I had the 6s plus, 7 plus and 8 plus. Last year, I began to feel my hand ache, due to the width of the 8 plus and how I grip my phone. Perhaps, it was because I was using the 8 plus for more hours during the day, then I had used the other plus phones. Switched to an X in May and have really felt more comfortable. Fits easier in my Jeans too. I have learned never to say never, as circumstances may change. For now, I don’t see myself moving to the MAX.

Great! Hope you enjoy it if that's what you end up getting.

You don’t hold the MacBook Pro or even the iPad as close as you do a phone. 326 ppl is mostly fine, but is same as the 7 screen which could occasionally break through the printed screen illusion. At the larger size it will be a bit more obvious than the higher ppi Max.

Went from + to X, but mainly wanted + because of the better specs at the time. Prefer form factor of X, but still not used to the keyboard after all this time. Dislike handling + now, always thought of it as the brick.

I hated the size of my 7+ so the X was a dream for me. I am super happy with it and went with the XS this time around since I didn't want a bigger phone. If you are comfortable with the plus size though, then it might be different but I never liked it.
