Pros and cons of switching to a Ti frame on the new iPhone pros? Personally I like the way that the iPhones look with the polished stainless frame. I like the idea of the phone being lighter and potentially stronger. Other thoughts?

Lighter is better. Aluminum is fine. Steel not so fine.

Apple had to do something to lighten the phones. The existing lineup is getting dangerously close to feeling like this:

You do have a choice on wether you want to buy an iPhone with stainless steel sides or aluminum. Apple isn’t holding a gun to your head and telling you what iPhone to buy. I’ve been buying the Pro Max phone since they launched and they do not feel like a brick. You are entitled to feel that way and can buy a smaller lighter iPhone. They are many choices.

This isn't even a comparable example, a car is a much bigger object that you drive and are in control of, insurance isn't optional and you don't carry it around in your pocket all day while you are at work, at the pub, at the pool, on holiday and so on.

I personally prefer to put my iPhone either in a clear case or the official Apple one, they hold up well in my opinion. I've never gone without a case, when I buy the iPhone 15 Pro Max, I will more than likely get a case (probably an official Apple one).
You’re in control of other people who crash into you? That’s impressive

Interesting. I had a TiBook schlepped everywhere for 5 years or so and managed two others. The only deterioration I saw was cosmetic on one TiBook where 40 hours a week of contact with the user's charm bracelet caused some kind of chemical reaction with the titanium alloy.

Your story sounds a lot more believable tbh. It's very reassuring.

And how often does that happen? less than someone dropping their phone who carries it around with them all day every day I'd bet.
I've dropped my phone 0 times in the past 2 years. No case. Carry it with me and use it everywhere.
Pretend it's your baby. How often do you drop a baby?

It’s rumored. More than likely they will have an “Ultra” phone, pro max and pro. Than the standard phones. I’ll wait and see. Weight doesn’t bother me.

I was just thinking this for Apple a new naming structure usually means another category or more advanced model! One screen size that sits above everything else

I used a glass screen protector on my Ultra and no case. I slipped and caught my fall hitting my Ultra on this concrete slab that stops cars from hitting the mail boxes at this apartment complex. The screen protector shattered and the screen was untouched. I would’ve hated to see what the screen would have looked like if I had not had a screen protector on it.
Likely, it would have been fine. I’m sure there “are” impacts that a screen protector actually reduces damage… but they’re few and far between. Far more often, the screen protector gets damaged but the phone doesn’t, and wouldn’t have even without the protector. Or a little less often the screen protector gets damaged and the screen does too.
