Just a quick update. The new public build (13A344) is slightly better than the GM build (13A340) released last week. The wake screen stutter is now gone so the only major stutter is the app switcher now. Again, it only happens every now and then. It'll probably be fixed in the next update since it apparently occurs across the newer iPhones as well.

Interesting. There's stutter on iOS 9, even though Apples only job was was to polish iOS 9 and make it run more fluid than iOS 8?

I have an iPhone 5 and I did the update last night it took about 25 mins but it's working great for me, tabs do not reload like before and typing is much better auto corrects much better. I beta tested 9 a while back so I know about all the new features but 9.0 official is so much better and working great on my phone.

Apparently so. Things that haven't changed much runs about the same as iOS 8. That that has changed (aka. app switcher) stutters. Hopefully they fix it soon.

So everything runs pretty much the same as iOS 8.4.1 except for app switcher?

Animations are stuttery. For instance when text messaging you can see the vsync flicker.
Or when you hit the home button and it does the zoom, it's a touch laggy. Apps launch a fair bit slower too.

It's just not very well polished. Pretty shocked it came out like this.

Pretty much yeah.

Really? I've experienced no flicker in text messaging nor the home screen zoom stutter. Although I did do a restore from backup instead of just an update. All the animations are perfectly smooth apart from the app switcher for me. App launch does seem a touch slower but then again that isn't iPhone 5 specific.

Stuttery animations, but that's not unexpected on 3 year old hardware. Battery life is the same for me so far (i.e. Not great the last few weeks; taking it in Monday to see if I can maybe qualify for the battery recall). The new features seem pretty cool, and I'm glad the 5 can take advantage of most of them.

Works for me so far.

Performance overall seems a touch slower than 8.4.1, but it's not bad. I did notice some stutter in going to spotlight searches.

Battery life seems unchanged.

Keyboard seems much more accurate, but I'm not sure why. My amount of mistakes in typing is way down.

I'd say go ahead and update if there's no reason you want to stay on 8.

I finally did the upgrade, both in my iPad Air and iPhone 5. I did both yesterday, so it's quite son for a good analysis, but the first impression is good in both. I notice a lot the new font. In the first impression, I liked more the previous one. This could be more legible as the letters have more space in between, but the previous one looked more sophisticated.
