Hope it can stay, so that we know there is at least one place that the rot FBI/CIA/NSA agents don't access 24/7 at will.

Let the brain rot continue...for at least 90 days.

Considering how corrupt The Duck is I would say he "ordered" a 90-day reprieve because he wants Elon the Nazi to buy it.

However, the Chinese already said they will not let ByteDance sell it. Maybe The Duck will trade Taiwan for TikTok. 🤡

While The Duck is in the Oval Office, is a gold plated toilet installed in the White House? The paint he puts on his face, is he trying to appear gold? To me in pictures it always looks like the colour of a rotisserie chicken.

It's concerning to me that the DOJ can just decide they're not going to enforce laws that Congress passed and the judiciary upheld, and everyone seems to be OK with that.

I would agree

I would add that I think anyone celebrating this isn't really considering what it means in the broader picture

"Rules for thee, but not for me" rarely ends well

Didn't The Duck appoint a puppet to head the DOJ? Slowly but surely, as most government departments and branches are dissolved by Elon the Nazi, those remaining will be headed by Duck puppets. Now Americans don't have to wonder what it felt like in Russia as Putin consolidated his power.

I would not have expected Apple to do this, no matter what, its the law (keeping it out of the store) at this point. They must have felt serious pressure.

Would not be surprised to see the current administration trade Taiwan for TikTok ownership.

I wonder if Presidents can pardon corporations?
It's an interesting question, since our Supreme Court (misguidedly IMHO) decided corporations are citizens - perhaps they can.

yes because the executive branch cleaning out the executive branch is a Constitutional crisis....
It is when they’re shutting down Offices established by Congress and therefore require an act of Congress to shut down, and a judge orders them to stop and they don’t.

Remember the President swore an oath to the Constitution. And the constitution states that the President “shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed” - not “shall ignore the ones he doesn’t like”.

The law is abundantly clear that Apple and Google can’t host TikTok on their App Stores. The fact that the chief law enforcement officer of the United States is sending letters telling Apple and Google to ignore the law, we won’t prosecute you, despite the Supreme Court ruling the law is constitutional should concern everyone.

Edit to add: I’d say the exact same thing if it was Biden or Harris’ Attorney General sending the letter. This isn’t a political thing, it’s a rule of law thing.

I agree I think Trump allowing tick tock is stupid, that wasn't what I was referring to. I have a problem with TikTok being back.

Pretty much. Just like the prior administration steamrolling over the Supreme Court’s decision against student loan forgiveness. Among other things.

View attachment 2481975

It’s pretty clear there are multiple tiers of justice. I’m certain the last administration wasn’t the first offender either.

It's true that the Biden administration has taken steps to reduce payments for citizens with student debt despite a Supreme Court ruling voting against a much wider plan in June 2023.

However, these new plans do not ignore the ruling by the Supreme Court as they are narrower in scope.

However, the conservative-majority Supreme Court voted 6-3 to overturn it.

The Biden administration then moved forward with the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) plan.

The SAVE plan does not provide immediate loan forgiveness but an income-driven repayment (IDR) that reduces monthly payments and the total years you have to pay before remaining balances are forgiven, most applicable to low to middle-income borrowers.

However, the new SAVE plans are not the same as those rejected by the Supreme Court. They apply to fewer people, do not provide immediate loan forgiveness and instead seek to reduce monthly payments and the total number of years until payments are forgiven.

Politics aside, this is good news for a lot of the creators who make their living off TikTok, especially selling goods in the TikTok shop.

Apple would be a good match. It'd give Apple a video platform and Apple is probably the single most privacy focused tech megacompany in the world. But Tim Cook doesn't like expensive acquisitions and social media is outside of Apple's wheelhouse, so probably would never happen.
