I use TimeMachine, CCC, and ChronoSync for various backup and file/folder synchronization tasks. Each has their strengths.
There is no question that for duplicating or recovering full disks CCC is the fastest and very reliable. It also handles the Recovery partition in the process.
Note that only TimeMachine retains the versioning database. This is only restored from a full TimeMachine backup, not when you restore only a file or folder.
