After seeing all the debates on the new maps essentially turning into fanboys yelling at people trying to point out that android has better maps, i thiught id post this. It's a nice article to read about how things aren't always black and white or good and awful. Android is just as viable as a mobile OS as iOS.

Who said Android wasn't a viable mobile OS? I'm sure lots of people love Android. But this is an iPhone forum and the reason why people are here is because they find that iOS suits them better.

If all I needed was a mobile assistant, I could work with android, however I do music production as well and iOS is the only mobile platform than can handle what I do at the moment.

I can't wait until this whole "to the haters" fad goes away.

Android is viable, OP, show me where someone said it wasn't.

What do you mean, "To all the Android haters"? You speak as if this is a multiformat forum or an Android centric forum.

It's MacRumors, it's primarily used by fans of APPLE products.

It's not rocket science, and I've no idea why some fail to grasp this.

My question to android owners on this forum has always been "why are you here?".

Now for all the excuses I get in reply realistically it always boils down to the opportunity to b*tch and snipe about Apple an its products.

Personally I couldnt care less about Android, its fans, or what they think of Apple and its products.

All I know is I tried an SGS2 for a week a while back and thought the experience was a load of w@nk.

Good day.

Exactly.

If these people were here, and to be fair there are a handful, to discuss their platform of choice in a well put across manner then that's fine. However, all we get from Android is "Samsung Galaxy" and "iPhone Killer" and "iOS is fragmented" ... I don't understand it to be anything other than trolling. It adds nothing to the forum, and why do these people not just post on an Android forum with other like minded users?

I mean, would a Manchester United fan register for a Manchester City forum then go on there telling everyone how rotten their team are, why they think it's inferior? Not a chance.

Why can't Android fans be iPhone fans?

MacRumors.

Apple makes quite a few products. I don't own an Android phone, but nothing stops someone with an Android phone from owning a Macbook or iMac or Mac Pro. Heck, an Android owner could even own an iPad or maybe an iPhone user could have an Asus Transformer Prime tablet.

My question to everyone who asks such a question in the first place : "Why do you feel this is a 100% Apple forum ?".

----------

Why can't Android fans be iPhone fans?

Why be a fan of anything ? These are just products/tools in the end. Use the one that best fits your needs. Right tool for the job.

Because it is one of the few places they can make blanket statements about Apple device superiority and not get called out on it?

Because I've owned a Mac since before there's been Android and my Android phone does everything I need it to do and more with a substantially cheaper monthly cost, so I have no need to update to an iPhone.

Though the iPhone is coming to Virgin Mobile, so the price argument will be moot. I'll have to play around with one more to see if it's something I really want or not. Currently indifferent - really interested in WP, but there's no VM offering currently or publicly for the near future.

Apparently they can't since everytime they try, they get rebutted and then cry and ask "why are you even here if you like Google sooooooo much ?". *sigh*.

I'm a technology fan. I happen to like the way Samsung is going at the moment, but I feel no loyalty to them... as soon as another manufacturer brings out something I like I'll get that instead.

Exactly.

People always ask me why I post in the iPhone forum when I criticise the iPhone and iOS. You can still like something if you criticise it. I can still own Android phones and like iOS.

So is your opinion. If it is garbage, why do people use it? Because they can't afford an iPhone? lawl.

I love the "too poor for an iphone" comments about people using $200 Android phones here. I think its less frequent now though, or at least I hope. I dont really check.

Carrier driven.

People say Apple fans are iSheep but basically the majority of people walking into their local cellular provider will pretty much go with what the sales rep tells them.

Since Tablets don't generate contractual lock-in the carriers don't push Android tablets and thus the iPad cleans house.

One way to look at it. Another would be that people actually choose Android. Carriers around here do as much Android marketing as they do iPhone marketing. The numbers remain the same.

One of my friends is quite happy with his Galaxy SII LTE. I'm happy with my iPhone 4S. Both handsets are great, both OSes are good.

There is no need to try to find a winner and a loser. The polarisation and duality wars are what's wrong, not anything with Android, iOS or the posters of Macrumors you seem to loathe so much.

Heck, if anything, I'd say there was something wrong with you for insisting that such a duality and polarisation must exist in the first place.

Sure they do; there's no difference between the iPad and any other tablet in this regard. Go buy any 3G/4G tablet and you can certainly get it subsidized with a contract. I certainly did this with my Xoom.

Given those facts, selling an Android tablet may lead to greater profit.

I don't understand how people hate or love a mobile OS. Or any OS for that matter.

I have the position of literally carrying a iPhone ( work phone ) and an low end Samsung Replenish. ( personal phone ) And its a very low end Android Phone, entry level. So its not even a great android phone.

Both of them are pretty fast, I've never had any issues with either of them, the iPhones home button decided to quit working once. Other than that.

Both are reliable
Both have been secure
Both have some nice little Apps to mess around with ( Im not big on Apps )
Both have great signal
They both do exactly the same thing.

I do PERFER the Samsung as it actually has buttons. I enjoy buttons. And its battery life seems a lot better.

But I don't love or hate either phone, they both do pretty much exactly the same thing. How the hell can you love or hate it?

Yes. It's a forum for Apple users. But being an Apple user doesn't justify being narrow-minded and short-sighted.

I think the problem with "fanboyism" is the notion that there is some kind of factual answer as to what is the best platform to use.

The narrow minded views aren't exclusive to the apple users here. If you think Android users are shining examples of perfectionism then you're very much mistaken.

I find the majority of Android posters here to be obnoxious, pompous, and condescending.
