The narrow minded views aren't exclusive to the apple users here. If you think Android users are shining examples of perfectionism then you're very much mistaken.

Narrow mindedness is all around indeed, the problem is that around here most of it is from the Apple "fan" base (those that insist you have to be a fan of Apple to post here and if you aren't, you probably don't even own any Apple products).

Get this, I'm an Apple user, not an Apple fan. In fact, there's quite a few corporate policies from Apple that I don't like. Doesn't change the fact that their products work for me and I are priced about what I'm ready to pay for them. I buy them, use them and enjoy them.

I find the majority of Android posters here to be obnoxious, pompous, and condescending.

There is no duality. I often have to debunk crap posted about Android, yet get this : I've never owned a damn Android phone. Ever. iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4S. Before that, I used a dumbphone by Sony Ericsson with a J2ME and Symbian stack.

The only "obnoxious, pompous and condescending people" are those on both sides that insist their side is right. There is no right or wrong in your opinions people, you aren't stating facts, either camp.

Spot on. It's a phone, and Apple don't care about us as individuals, we're nothing but income to them. I can't add anything much to what you said, as it's bang on the money.

In the smartphone era, I've had two iPhones and two Android phones. I've loved them all! I'm an admitted tech geek so I love to see competition in the mobile industry because it inevitably creates better products for the consumer. So, I hope the Apple-Android war rages for many years. :D

My question to android owners on this forum has always been "why are you here?".

Well. I do have an Android phone as my personal phone. And I love it. My work phone is an iPhone, and its not bad either. I simply prefer the Samsung because it has an actual keyboard.

And, believe it or not, Apple makes things that are not phones. Like computers, and I happen to own a couple of those in addition to my Windows/Linux PCs.

So that's why I'm here.

It's and/both not either/or.
But truth be told, after spending good money on a top of the line Asus Transformer I can honestly say I made the right choice in beating it to death with a hammer.

I said no such thing, nor implied it. But hardly anyone here posts anything about Android, while all they do is praise the almighty Apple for their good grace.

People piss me off to no end.

As I said, people need to remember that a) it's only a phone, on both sides, and b) neither Apple nor Google care that people fight over their devices.

I personally find the amount of Android threads here to be utterly useless, because they tend to be created by people wanting to slate the iPhone or tell us how much better their Android device is, as well as how stupid we are for buying iPhones.

If you try to have a conversation, the very second you post "I prefer iOS", you're labelled a fanboy and the whole thing goes to hell in a handcart.

There are lots of immature posts from both sides usually. Theres usually an "Android is garbage" type post a few posts in.

First off, i am an Android user. I believe Android is superior to iOS, offers a lot more, but iOS is for the "Technologically-stupid." And by using your findings, you are saying that the type of phone someone uses decides theyre personality. and of course they will be like that, they are here for the sake of an argument. go to http://www.droidforums.net and you'll see that everybody there are normal people, like you and me.

For everybody else, comparing iOS to Android is fruitless. Android is a mobile OS used across a span of manufacturers and carriers. So saying iOS is saying iPhone. Saying android can mean anything from a budget Virgin Mobile phone to a Samsung Galaxy s3. iPhone is iOS. iPhone is for the basic usage. Everything is there for you, simple and easy to use. Android goes deeper, with more customization options, abilities, and a growing Google App store.
I find most Apple users to be clueless of the technological world, i bet most of you had no clue you could have a background that wasnt a boring black screen before iOS 4.
They are two different systems, made for 2 different things. I would recommend Android to a younger, more experienced crowd, and an iPhone to my Grandma. I will not comment on the Mac OS, as that is completely different. Im afraid ill rant on that. But i will say that most parts in Apple computers are used in PCs as well. They dont belong solely to Windows or Apple.

But the hardware part of the iPhone compared to the phone i have, a Galaxy Nexus. Yes, the GN looks and feels cheaper, but would you really want a fully glass-cased phone that could shatter at almost anything? Do you really like that 3.5" screen? Well i like my 4.65" screen. With android, there is a huge variety of phones you can choose from, but there is only 1 iPhone. Want a phone with a full physical QWERTY keyboard? Droid 4. Huge, high quality screen? Samsung GS3. Cheap budget entry phone? Whatever says "free with 2 year contract" Want an iPhone? $299 32GB 2 year. Physical keyb- NOPE. Some people like that screen size on the iPhone, and thats ok. But have you iPhone users ever wonder what it's like to have something bigger than that?
And before you say anything about the screen, GN has higher resolution than iPhone. iPhone = 960x640. mine is 720p. thats considered HD. iPhone is technically not HD. And before you say the the iPhone has better parts, guess what! Samsung makes half of the phone for Apple. Thank samsung for that awesome retina display. Thank samsung for that new dual core processor. Thank the company that made Siri for Siri. And Apple SUED Samsung. Bit the hand that feeds them. For one of their phones looking similar to the iPhone. Thats like saying Ford should sue chevy for making something that has 4 wheels and runs on gasoline.
For people that say battery life on iPhone is better than that of Android, thats because you're right! It is better if you just have a homescreen with a non-moving wallpaper and no widgets. Why would someone want to have widgets? I like mine. You dont have to have widgets or a live wallpaper. Its implemented on your phone for people that often around a charger. Android offers all those extra features STOCK that an iPhone couldnt accomplish unless you jailbroke it and voided you horrid apple warranty.

I'm finished. I hope you are all a little more educated on the issue.
Cheers, TheDownfall :)

Not in the slightest. What I was saying is that the majority of Android users on here spend their time in iOS threads going on about the inferiority of iOS and labelling anyone who argues back a "fanboy", without realising that they're guilty of acting like the very thing they purport to be against.

I'm all for people giving views of Android, but it never comes across as or stays civil, it just descends into "fanboy" accusations and a mockery that I long got fed up of on the videogame forums of the mid 90's.

The second someone says "I prefer iOS" they are often rounded on, yet as iOS users on an Apple forum we're supposed to listen to their views without question. It's utterly one sided and hypocritical.

And having gone back and read your post, you toss a lot of accusations and assumptions in there about "now before you say", not realising that 99% of what you say I will "hit back with" are things I've never once said and wouldn't even bother to. I mean, I'm well aware that the parts inside an iPhone are made by other companies, including Samsung ... as proven, an Android user insulting my intelligence.

There are a few things I could have bothered to actually reply to (horrid Apple warranty is utter nonsense, for example), but I genuinely cannot be bothered replying in depth to Generic Android Arrogance User 537. It's a phone, if you'd read my comments above you'd know I said that (as opposed to what you constantly thought I'd say in your make believe debate above). You care WAY too much, Google and Apple don't give a toss if we have people who see their phones as little mini-me's to be defended.

I am "loyal" to iOS because I have over £500 of apps, and I am comfortable with and enjoy using iOS. It's not because I'm "technically stupid" (degree in Computer Support and Analysis thank you very much), but because I personally PREFER iOS.

End. And welcome to the block list.

My question to android owners on this forum has always been "why are you here?".

Now for all the excuses I get in reply realistically it always boils down to the opportunity to b*tch and snipe about Apple an its products.

Personally I couldnt care less about Android, its fans, or what they think of Apple and its products.

All I know is I tried an SGS2 for a week a while back and thought the experience was a load of w@nk.

Good day.

Maybe some of these people have Macs? The site is called MacRumors afterall. I came here originally because I got an iPhone, I have an iPad too but I run Windows. Shouldn't I be allowed here? Or do I have to be in the Apple Ecosystem 100% and mail the rights to my first born son to Apple before I may comment here?

I joined today obviously. I'm an android owner (Razr), but I do love keeping up with the industry in general. I personally think that Apple makes one hell of a product, but I'm just not a fan of their business 'ethics.' Also, MacRumors is the most informative tech forum I believe I've ever seen.

What annoys me with people from the Android side, and more pointedly that Verge 29 days with Android tripe is that fact people compare a Rooted / Rom'd Android phone to a stock iPhone (not jailbroken).

To do a fair comparison they should do a stock android / stock iphone and see how customisable they both are.

I do think all patent situation is getting ridiculous but remember in 2009 when Eric Schmidt (who was on the board of Apple & Google) was forced to resign over allogations he'd been secretly stealing iOS and using it for google.... allegedly anyway.

I agree with the unfair comparisons with rooted droid vs non-jailbroken iPhone. Now that JellyBean and even ICS are rolling out, more and more people are finding that rooting is unneeded though. JellyBean, if all goes well for google, will be a pretty amazing OS with Google Now and other features.

These patent arguments are silly. Let the competition grow and both companies will experience greater wealth.

That google now scares the hell out of me, it looks really cool but you have to question the extent of their data gathering and eeeking out every bit of information about you.... I might be over-thinking it though, but I don't have a google account, at all, because of these reasons.

I love the "too poor for an iphone" comments about people using $200 Android phones here. I think its less frequent now though, or at least I hope. I dont really check.

Funny thing is that many flagship Androids (the very kind that compete with the iPhone) are even more expensive than the iPhone :)

That what ? He's already been answered : Android owners around here also *gasp* *shock* own Apple products discussed on this site.

Geez, what a concept, being able to own both Apple made junk and Google made junk...

You and I both know that thats not the intent of most of those threads.

I'm on the Android side most of the time in those threads even though I don't have an Android device, because frankly, the amount of FUD posted about Android here is revolting. You'd think if the iPhone and iOS were so good, people wouldn't need to make up crap about Google's stuff to make Apple's shine.

So no, we do not share that "knowledge" you seem to possess about Android owners. Quite the contrary, I find it is your stance on the whole thing that creates problems to begin with.

There is no duality. There is no us, there is no them. It's all in your head.

Why do you even bother responding to me anymore? We never agree on anything lately, and no, its not in my head I assure you its printed here on Macrumors. Go look at any Android thread.

You rarely see iOS users posting on Android forums which suggests to me Android users come here to belittle and make themselves feel better about their purchase.

Again, there is no "Android users". Those "Android users" may very well also be "iOS users" and "OS X users". Heck, probably a bunch of "Windows users" are also "iOS users" by virtue of so many damn iPads and iPhones being sold compared to Macs.

Are you now going to say that people that aren't 100% Apple in every gadget they own don't have a right to their opinions and shouldn't be posting here ? Accept that your undivided Apple attachement is not shared by everyone and move on. That doesn't mean those folks don't have as much of a right to follow Apple related news, rumors and discussion as you do.

The whole point. Heck, for all we know, Andy Rubin, the guy behind Android, is posting on this site this very minute. He even etched some Android mascots unto his MacBook :

But that's impossible right ? A guy from Google working on Android can't like and use Apple products right ?

Drop the attitude and condescention towards folks who don't share your opinion about Apple and I'll stop disagreeing with you.

Seriously please get over yourself. I never implied Android users (yes, there are Android users, its called people who use Android) can't own iOS devices, or that people owning Android can't use macs.

You are ridiculously aggressive in every single post you make and always take things to the extreme.

Oh and that part in bold? Please look at your own posts before you try and give others this type of advice.
