Ok bought a 2012 Mac Pro and want to run Mojave. Does anybody know if a Navdia Geforce Gtx 560 Ti is metal and will work on my computer without flashing?

Yeah figured it was too good to be true at $40. Guess will have to keep looking. Either that or be satisfied to run High Sierra and save my money. Thanks

Apple put up a short list of ones that would let you upload Mojave. I'm relly not sure its worth it to spend more money just for an upgrade that I may not like anyway.

When I bought this it had open core with Monterrey and I deleted it. I though it was weird it would boot without
a hard drive in it. Now can't figure out how to put it back on there and thought an apple download would be better.
Might stick with High Sierra if this 560 2gb xfx won't work when it gets here tomorrow.

If there's no drive it should boot to folder with a question mark?

That is what I thought but somehow it will boot to something. I had just bought this 2012 5,1 and
I thought it was haunted.LOL Kinda scared me I pulled the hard drive and loaded High Sierra. I
don't do much with a computer...few emails...facebook marketplace and Youtube. Should leave well enough alone
but am dumb enough to spend money upgrading for no reason at all. Got two mac pro's 10 Imacs and three laptops
go figure. Retirement does strange things to a person.

If all the drives are out, then you may have a drive connected where cd drive is located.

Look for one.

I think it still had the operating system in it and when I pulled all the drives out with the open core on it and stuck
another that had High Sierra in it then it used it to boot up the open core . Something happened . I know you can
stick a ssd in the extra cd spot but there is nothing there. I found it strange. If I put the drive back in with the open core it won't boot but tries and has some of the open core stuff on it. You can't just stick it back in and have it open
monterrey again.

I would just post a picture on the inside and the what the cMP does when it boots without any drives

for a sanity check

That is the one that was in this 2012 5,1 when I bought it. Once I pulled out this drive and stuck in one
with my clones of High Sierra I think it still hooked on to the os in that drive and ran once more. It hasn't done it
again but that drive comes up with these blocks and won't ever bootup Monterrey.

You know I might be under thinking it but wonder if this hard drive has already been though the open core
setup if there is some simple download you could do and have it work with Monterrey again? I'm use to having a hard drive with a program loaded on it and you just plug it in and it works.

Ok just installed a RX 560 and downloaded a copy of Mojave, complements of Apple. I was wondering since
it has a Metal gpu now, can I stick my hard drive with a copy of Catalina in there and it will run it?

Did you forget that Catalina is not supported with a MacPro5,1? You need OpenCore/dosdude1 patched install/OCLP/Whatever.

My mid-2010 Mac Pro was deemed obsolete by Apple several years ago. So now it runs as a Windows 10 box. Funny that Microsoft provides better support for legacy apple software than Apple does.

If anybody is curious a cheap MSI Areo ITX Radeon RX 560 works perfect in my 2012 Mac Pro. Will make
Mr Apple happy and he gives you a free copy of Mojave.
