I just caught this advert on TV a second ago, so forgive me if someone's already posted it. Microsoft seem to be doing a great job of advertising, between this, the "to the cloud!" and the Windows Phone in the urinal, they are all pretty funny.

I saw that on tv the other day. I actually though the commercial was kind of lame. What is it with MS, they just can't seem to market themselves out of a paper bag lately.

Lame.

Thanks for posting, but really, this is typical MS fare. It's indicative of all the problems they have - from product development, to execution, to design, to marketing.

They aren't. in fact, they rarely do. Most of it's just lame and corny. With these kinds of ads MS proves that they don't understand the consumer, and that Apple is certainly a mystery to them. This is the way it's been for like a decade now. Or did we just watch completely different ads?

I want a Apple Store in my house.... :D

But when my other half and I saw these ads, I was reminded that I already have an Apple Store in our house! LOL

Haha, same here. We've got an iMac G5, MBP 2010, MBP 2011, and iPad, iPod Touch, iPod Mini, Nano, iPhones... and soon to add a Mac Mini. Once Apple convinces you to buy one of their products, they entangle you and don't let you go :p

Does she still get the free XBOX 360 with her free computer that might be over $699?

I like the "to the cloud" advert as it seems to show off the capabilities of the device.... but it does seem to push the computer more than the OS.

I still find it funny that on UK TV right now Dell are pushing the laptops with "lids you can change in seconds". The whole advert doesn't mention much else - go on their website as its on the key summary:

Featuring the latest 2nd Generation Intel Core processors and laptop lids you can change in seconds. Available in 15” and 17”.
15.6" | 2.65kg
Starting At
£449

Shocking!

Dell's had those attachable things for ever and for many models. Not sure why they're pushing them now.

Those "To the Cloud" commercials are the worst.

LOL at the second commercial, "There's no tower anymore." Welcome to the 21st century... Enjoy your stay.

We have two 2010 MBA's - one 11" and my 13", a 4yo iMac, two iPad's (the first one and the iPad2), I have the iPhone 4 and gave them an iPhone 3GS for Valentines Day this year, several iPods of all generations, and three ATV2's.

Been jonesing to replace the iMac here. Not sure if it will be another iMac or not. The realities of combining two households is setting in. :( But been tempted by the performance of the Sandy Bridge processors for some of my photo work and DVD ripping.

Trying to sell the other half on the idea of my MBA becoming our media computer to host our iTunes library for the ATV's.

The message of these ads: please stop using your Windows XP machines and buy a new one. :p
Which is funny. Microsoft finally builds a decent OS and people keep the computers forever! Maybe they should release Windows ME 2. People would upgrade from that every 6 months out of despair!

To the cloud commercials suck. They almost never are actually going to the cloud, its just either the internet or remote access to a home PC.

As far as the apple store, they got their hooks into me with the iPad. Before that I had an iPod touch but it was from before the app store and I didn't have any idea it could run apps until AFTER I got the iPad (LOL). Now I have 2 iPads, 2 iPhones, 2 Apple TVs, a 2011 MacBook Pro and a 2011 iMac. Out of all that my favorite product might actually be the red-headed stepchild of the group, the Apple TVs. I love them and I hope Apple takes the development of the product a little more seriously.

The funny thing is that even when Windows 8 comes out(immersive UI), I suspect people will continue upgrading XP-->7 simply because 7 has now built a reputation as "rock solid". How woulda thunk it from Redmond?:confused:

On the fence
I don't get those commercials. They are showing the users that they need a new machine, even if the one they have does what they need perfectly fine. I don't understand why MS doesn't just advertise for windows 7. They make more money off of store bought copies of the OS than they do off of newly sold PCs. I'm not a huge fan of the commercials that give the impression that either the person in it is really dumb or that you need to buy the product because what you have now has been deemed a piece of crap. I don't like being insulted by advertising.

Both Apple and MS should just stop it with the adverts. With the exception of the dancing iPod silhouettes, all of Apple's and Microsoft's adverts have been poor.
