I have the 15 Pro Max. Unless a jaw-dropping hardware surprise is announced (and/or they introduce a 2TB storage tier), I'll probably hold onto it for another year. Just had the camera replaced a few months ago, and I may need a battery replacement soon (that'll be covered under Apple Care), but it's still a solid performer for just about everything I need. I had a Nokia flip phone before my first iPhone, so the novelty of a foldable is lost on me.

I'm a bit on the fence. My current phone is the 14 Pro, and although I feel like I'm due for an upgrade, I *really* want a foldable phone. In light of that, it probably makes sense to wait, but we'll see whether I feel like making sense.

I am going to be upgrading from the 14PM this year (every 2 to 3 years, my typical upgrade cycle), although if the fold comes out next year as rumoured, I might grab it? Although not immediate, wait a month or two to see the reviews about it and how good it is first, the first-gen Fold? I typically never go for 1st-gen of any product.

If that makes any sense.

From me side, to be interested on Foldable iphone it shoud be much different than current ones, because I don’t like square shape on inner screen. I hate watching videos with so big black bars.

Regarding upgrading to 17PM, I currently have 15PM and I really hope a big step forward as 16PM was a “meh” upgrade. Do you find the the “camera control” useful? My wife has 16P and she has used 2/3 times the new control to try it but always ends using on screen controls (she loves cameras).

I'm waiting for the fold. I've got a 15 Pro Max, it's not exactly ancient, but since Apple Intelligence I've noticed apps get booted out of memory much more quickly now (despite me turning AI off!)

I would have liked to upgrade this year, but I'm not going to replace a phone after just a year, and I hate selling stuff as there's always so much risk of being ripped off.

Still rocking my 12 mini, my upgrade cycle is 6 years but I planned initially to get the Air this year. But I've scraped the plans finally due to a crisis of (Apple) faith, so I may reconsider next year if I want to stick to Apple ecosystem or move to something that gives me more freedom like Fairphone + /e/OS Murana.

I'll be upgrading my 11 to either the base 17 or a Pro model. I'll decide a few weeks after they're out and then wait for the first price-drop here in Europe, which usually comes towards the end of October. It's a very small drop, but every bit helps!

Part of the reason I'm sticking with Apple is that I liked iOS 18 and think iOS 26 is even better.

It could be I have less issues than some because my phone's too old to support AI, but I can always disable that if necessary.

I can't imagine a personal use-case for a foldable phone at this point. Perhaps someday, but it seems unlikely.
This is a likely upgrade year for me from 13PM to 17PM.

I asked Grok to list some differences. Whether or not they're all accurate 🤷‍♂️

I tip my hat to all you folks still rocking the 13’s! I’m annoyed at myself for jumping on all these carrier deals and upgrading. My new plan is to last 5 years! Must resist

What is sad is some of the carriers are offering a “low” price forever. Not a great deal when people realize that rates are actually going down. 6G will be a major revolution in communications.

I have had the 13 since its release. I change every 4-5 year so its time for a change now. I want to go for iphone 17 pro. Never had a pro before so I am excited. The folded one? I would never ever wanna even touch a fold smartphone. It looks horrible and feels horrible in hands (have tested out my brothers fold Samsung). To each their own

Planning to upgrade my 14 Pro to the 17 Pro. Foldable doesn’t get me excited. Got a coworker with one and honestly it seems more of a chore folding/unfolding. If I go through that action it better be like my mid 00’s flip phone where a wrist flick opens it up.
I agree. They look ridicolous too. I have tested my brothers Samsung. The whole folding it up even felt very irritating. No thanks. If I want a small flipphone I would get the old school one. Not a thick glass rectangle to fold

I have a launch day 15 pro max and will be upgrading to the 17 pro max next month. My mom has has my old 11 pro max and is wanting and upgrade now since it's starting to show it's age. So she will be getting my 15 pro max. The foldable iPhone seems cool but I would be concerned about durability and also the price increase. Rumors have already said to expect the foldable iPhone to start at the 2K price point. That's just a little too much for a phone in my opinion. Honestly, the current $1,200 price point now is a bit much lol.

I have actually lost interest in the fold, its too late at the game. I doubt it can add anything new besides the creaseless design.

I will go 17 pro max this year as it will still have more features at a cheaper price, I have no regrets not waiting for the fold.

I have zero interest in a foldable phone. Maybe, eventually when they can make it work dependable for multiple years. Yeah, maybe.
I'm planning to upgrade from my refurb 11P to the 17P. I'd like the camera in the pro max, but that form factor is too big for me.

At £2k , I wouldn’t look at any phone that price. I don’t want that price one day to become socially acceptable for a phone so I don’t want to play a part in that.
I also think it would be too big for my use.
I’m going from a 14pro to 17pro. If that white holo thing was true I’m all over it.
14pro was the stupidest upgrade move I made (from a 13pro)

I am getting 17 pro coming from 13 mini but will get iPhone Fold next years if it is equally competitive to Samsung Fold 7 or else will skip first gen and get the second one.

Uhhhh……what about the Apple ecosystem? I’m pretty sure that that will be new to the folding phone market. The only thing that stopped me from getting a folding phone now is Android. :D

I'm still using an XS (with 84% battery "health" figure), which won't get any more updates (though I've chosen to stay on 17), so I'm due for a new phone.

The camera is important to me, and I keep my phones, so whatever the cost difference is between Pro and non-Pro is easily worth it, and amortized over a longer period.

I could probably eek out another year, and wait for the 18 cycle and a pinhole notch, but either way, have no need for a folding phone. Had a Plus in the past, and the XS is already as large as I need, or wish to carry around.

Originally bought my XS a few months after launch, just after the new year, and barring any external factors that may affect the price, will probably try to do the same this time. Sales were slow at the time, and Apple bumped the trade-in values. Don't expect that to recur, but we live in volatile times.

And if the speculation about a $50 price hike, but offset by 256GB base config, are true, I'd welcome that, since I was already debating opting for a higher config than the current 128GB baseline. Even if it isn't, I will already have double the storage, minus the space consumed by the AI software payload that I won't use.

But I am scheduled to be overseas after the 17 launches, and will see how the model specs turn out. I expect the ROW models to still retain a SIM slot, but that would be offset by the loss of mmwave and other radio band differences.

I'm a gadget person, and like shiny new things, but well past the point of FOMO. I now place greater value in having a solid, reliable tool, with decent durability and useful life more than any gee-whiz sales points.

The XS has been a great phone for me, and never given any trouble. I expect the same again.

I will upgrade from my 14 Pro to a new 17 Pro (or perhaps the Air... we'll see).

I won't be as interested in the fold as I was before I tried the Galaxy Fold 7 a couple weeks ago. The phone is nice (android isn't...) but the form factor is not for me. My initial idea was to have a phone that would replace a phone and a tablet, but it's not even close. It's a phone and... a bad tablet. I'll keep my iPad.
