Thank you for all the comments so far, still on the fence at the moment - will probably see what WWDC brings and then decide after that.....

I currently have an 11" M1 iPad Pro but am considering upgrading to a 13" for the bigger screen & the fact that I mainly use it in landscape & will appreciate the new camera position.

I was in a similar situation and really weighed it all out and went back and forth. I have the M1 11" with 256GB and cellular, plus a nice Toro folio and the magic keyboard. I use it for typing, photo editing, reading, and some media consumption. Basically, I was going to do the same as you, sell while the value was highest.

In the end, I decided to wait. I have the subscription AppleCare+ on it so if anything happens to this, I can get it taken care of. Also, I use a Google Fi sim card for international travel and it is invaluable to me to show up in another country and be ready to go with internet without using/sucking down the battery on my phone by hot spotting.

Lastly, I just came down to the fact that this one already looks pretty good and it is more powerful than iPadOS supports, which is what most people say anyways. I'm not losing out on anything performance related and even though the value is best now, the new iPad will come down in price over time with third-party sales so I won't be losing that much on the differential if I change my mind later this year.

It all just depends on how much you value screen quality. I personally would do it because I love inky blacks and high contrast displays. But if you don’t really care that much, it’s a waste of time and money to upgrade. Everything you do on your iPad will feel exactly the same.
It does not feel exactly the same to me upgrading from a 12.9 M1 iPad Pro. The M4 13 inch feels snappier than my previous M1 and playing games I can see things I didn't see with my previous M1. Such as shadows and white powder coming from a pitched ball in my baseball game.

Well, I decided to go ahead and upgrade and have had the 11" pro for a week now and am very happy with it. I didn't bother waiting for WWDC and am glad I didn't as I am not really too fussed about the AI capabilities and will probably turn a lot of them off anway.

I am absolutely loving the OLED screen, for me its a noticeable upgrade over the LCD screens and just makes the whole experience of using it nicer for me: photos "pop" and I can definitely see a massive improvement in HDR content.

One thing that did really surprise me was actually being able to notice a meaningful difference in the weight of the machine with case: whilst not exactly heavy, the previous version with a case did feel a tad on the bulky side for me and I have no such qualms with the latest model. With the landscape camera I am also holding it less and less in portrait, particularly when using Safari. Previously the majority of my usage was in portrait mode but now it is in the minority. Another (minor) upside for me is the improved battery life.

All in all I am very happy I made the upgrade, it is a noticeably nicer device to use for me.

Congratulations on your purchase and I'm glad to hear you are happy with it. I too went from a M1 11" Pro to the M4 256GB cellular model at launch and have been very happy with it and never considered a return. I have it in the Apple folio and just purchased the Pro pencil for it.

I'm way behind since I am still running my 1st gen iPad Pro 11 with the A12Z chip. I have been looking at the new 11" and 13" iPad Pro's lately. I take my current one with me quite often to read books, surf the web and watch videos. Otherwise it stays on my desk next to my 2018 Mac Mini.

It would be nicer to have the 13" screen since I keep my iPad next too my Mac and use both at the same time. It is nice to have two screens on the Mac and the ability to use the same mouse and keyboard on the iPad at the same time. I multitask a lot.

One reason I haven't jumped on getting a new iPad Pro is that I really do need to upgrade my 2018 Mac Mini. It sometimes locks up/crashes and/or runs out of memory since upgrading to Sonoma.

I had the M1 12.9” pro and it was great but I knew I wanted to upgrade this year. Originally I got an 11” in cellular but worried I’d miss the bigger the size so I returned it and got the bigger size. I quickly started to miss the smaller, handheld size of the 11” so I got the 11” again. Very happy with it, it’s great as a portable computer!

For me the biggest difference coming from a 2018 iPad Pro is being able to connect to a projector and have a nice image resolution, and the landscape camera.

I have a lot of meetings with clients and also a lot of online meetings. This alone makes the experience much better.

I can’t really notice a speed difference in my day to day use.

OLED is nice. But the previous screen was already a very good one.

And the size and weight is alabó nice, especially when adding the Magic Keyboard.

Also upgraded from 11-inch M1 256GB to 11-inch M4 256GB (this time with cellular).

For me, it was worth it for the screen alone. I was super on the fence about this upgrade for weeks, then pulled the trigger and am so happy I did. The OLED screen is gorgeous. I know this won’t matter as much to some people, but it does to me and the upgrade was well worth it.
